Cultural diversity is important and can be strengthened through globalization. Globalization provides the means to support cultural groups in maintaining their beliefs and practices while making contributions to society. It increases understanding between cultures by allowing for interaction and exchange of ideas, knowledge, and goods globally. This helps reduce stereotypes and makes countries more interesting places to live as different cultures are exposed to one another.

wherewithal to support cultural groups attempting to make a difference in society while still maintaining their distinctive set of beliefs, practices and values.
WHY IS CULTURAL DIVERSITY A “GOOD
THING”? Cultural diversity is important because our country, workplaces, and schools increasingly consist of various cultural, racial, and ethnic groups. We can learn from one another, but first, we must have a level of understanding about each other. Learning about other cultures helps us understand different perspectives within the world in which we live. It helps dispel negative stereotypes and personal biases about different groups. In addition, cultural diversity helps us recognize and respect “ways of being” that are not necessarily our own. So that as we interact with others we can build bridges to trust, respect, and understanding across cultures. Furthermore, this diversity makes our country a more interesting place to live in. As people from diverse cultures contribute language skills, new ways of thinking, new knowledge, and different experiences.
HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT CULTURAL
DIVERSITY? Increase your level of understanding about other cultures by interacting with people outside of your own culture Avoid imposing values on others that may conflict or be inconsistent with other cultures When interacting with others who may not be proficient in English, recognize that their limitations in English proficiency in no way reflects their level of intellectual functioning Recognize and understand that concepts within the helping profession, such as family, gender roles, spirituality, and emotional well-being, vary significantly among cultures and influence behaviour Within the workplace, educational setting, and/or clinical setting, advocate for the use of materials that are representative of the various cultural groups within the local community and the society in general Intervene in an appropriate manner when you observe others engaging in behaviours that show cultural insensitivity, bias, or prejudice Be proactive in listening, accepting, and welcoming people and ideas that are different from your own
DIVERSITY AND INTERCONNECTIONS IN A
GLOBALIZED WORLD
Globalization is the connection of different parts of the world. Globalization results in the
expansion of international cultural, economic, and political activities. As people, ideas, knowledge, and goods move more easily around the globe, the experiences of people around the world become more similar.
Cultural diversity can be strengthened through globalization by providing the means and
wherewithal to support cultural groups attempting to make a difference in society while still maintaining their distinctive set of beliefs, practices and values.
Benefits of globalization
Increased standard of living
Access to new markets
Spread of Technology and innovations
Access to New Cultures
Lower Costs for products
Advantages of Globalization, we can also add this:
Through globalization, the technological differences between the countries are decreasing and the countries of the south are gaining technology transfer, foreign exchange and jobs. • Globalization also allows for greater democratization and a strengthening of human rights and the rights of nature and animals. • Globalization promotes the rapprochement of peoples and cultures. Societies no longer live in autarky: they interact and fertilize themselves to produce better things. cultures get richer by influencing each other. • Human leisure is also enriched by the openness of the world. Sport (world events are transmitted live to all countries), cinema, shows of all kinds strengthen the cohesion and the rapprochement of peoples. • Through globalization, countries suffering from a natural or human disaster quickly receive support from other countries, which alleviates the suffering of the victims.
As disadvantages of globalization, we can also add this:
• Economically, the market economy which has transformed the world into a large open shopping center is the cause of many financial crises which today threaten several countries of bankruptcy. • Because of economic globalization, social inequalities between rich and poor countries are growing and becoming stronger. competition between countries whose citizens enjoy high purchasing power and other countries where purchasing power is very weak necessarily worsens the suffering of the poor. • The political authorities of poor countries are increasingly subjected to pressure from international organizations which dictate the policy to be followed, which is not always at the service of the citizens of these countries. • Because of globalization, the major world powers tend to interfere more often in the internal affairs of countries, to influence internal policies to orient them for their own benefit. • Due to globalization, cultural specificities tend to disappear and become uniform: this results in cultural and social impoverishment. People abandon their customs, their ways of dressing, eating, their lifestyles to adopt a universal mode. We risk losing the cultural wealth specific to each region. • Globalization also facilitates the rapid circulation of bad things: diseases (like the Coronavirus pandemic which currently lives). https://www.researchgate.net/post/What_is_the_Advantages_and_disadvantages_of_Globalization
