Austrian National Library

The reader’s best friend are the libraries. Those places which can
be small as a boutique or as huge as an university have been
storing a fascinating treasure in different quantities since they
were opened for the first time.
I am not into visiting the library at all per month, as recently, I
use the E-books more and more. However, there is one library in
the world which I would really love to visit, its name is “Austrian
National Library”. Originally called “Imperial Court Library”, is
the largest library in Austria, located in center of Vienna,
established, in Middle Ages, in 1368.
Once you have bought a ticket you can visit the library. As soon
as you have entered inside the marvelous building, which has a
baroque structure, you can delight your mind with the reading of
any genre of books, that you can choose out of the 12 mil. items
which are stored inside this indispensable construction.
It’s immense collection contains: manuscripts and rare books
dating from the 4th century common era to the present, medieval
and modern manuscripts from almost every literate culture, such
as “Vienna Dioscurides”; map collection which includes maps
back to the 16th century, which also includes the 17th century
“Atlas Blaeu-Van der Hem”, a 50-volume set that consists of more
than 2400 maps, prints, and drawings; papyrus collection from
the period between the 15th Century BCE and 16th Century CE;
music collection, numerous recordings such as records or CDs are
kept well; old Japanese and Chinese printings; gender studies;
and more.
However, before getting addicted to it’s amazing content, you
must visit The State Hall. This central structure has such a
splendid design: bookshelves aligned next to the walls which are
sculpted in a baroque style and the statue of emperor Charles VI
positioned in the center of the construction. This magnificent
view will shock you for sure, especially the ceiling’s draws.
If you think that the giant library wasn’t enough for you and that
it doesn’t have enough books for you to be read, well you can
always buy a ticket and visit it’s five museums, such as: The
Globe Museum, that contains 380 globes from 16th century; The
papyrus Museum; The Esperanto Museum and more.
To sum up, I advice everyone to visit The Austrian National
Library, as you get access to such a various collection of books or
at least to visit the local library from the own town, as those
places keep the creations that are able to relax and to brighten
our mind.
