REFLECTION PAPER

The article entitled The Qualities of a truly Professional Teacher written by Brenda

Townsend Hall discusses about the qualities the one must possess or have to be truly a

professional teacher. It tackles more about the teacher himself/herself and his/her behavior,

looks, thinking, actions when teaching students.

After reading the article, I learned things about I can do my job better if ever in the near

future I will also pursue academic related job or teaching. That teaching is not just a simply

presenting or sharing knowledge in the front of a class and giving task and exams. It is also a

relationship that both parties should have a connection and understanding about each other. Not

thinking about yourself as someone superior to your students just because you’re the teacher but

instead, have the attitude of learning also from your students.

The article is good and informative but I would like to add perhaps regarding the learning

itself. That teachers, professional should not just teach knowledge but as well as wisdom that

students really need especially in the real-life battle, something that will help us be equipped or

prepared truly in the future. Knowing your students learn and emphasizing the value of the things

we learned. May teacher be able to be someone whom we would thank a lot for teaching us what

we need and have to know despite us having different way of learning.

And maybe, in the future I also plan to be one if it is God’s will, I pray and hope that I

could be this kind of professional teacher. Because, it excites and thrilled me knowing that

perhaps I will be one in the future I will be able to help others, or students to go for their dreams,

reach it, aim it even if its hard.
