A. Opening Activities

Good morning, class? : Good morning, Ma’am!

Let us start our class with a simple

prayer. Will you lead the prayer,
Sheena? : ( The student will lead the prayer)

Thank you, Sheena.

Before taking your seats, kindly

arrange your chairs and pick up
those pieces of paper under it. : (The students will do as told.)

Let us have a count-off starting from

Ana. : (The students will do as told.)

What is the last number? : 40, Ma’am.

Hence, no one is absent. Let us give

ourselves a triangle clap. Here it
goes. ( The teacher will demonstrate
the clap.) Did you get it, class? : Yes, Ma’am.

Now, let us do the triangle clap. 1,

2,3 go. : ( The students will do the clap.)
B. Motivation / Review

Before going to our main topic for

today, let us play a game entitled
“Rebus”. Do you know this game,
class? : No, Ma’am.

If so, will you read the mechanics of

the game, Ishara? : Mechanics:
1. Pictures, words, letters, and
operations will be flashed on the
screen.
2. You only need to form word/s out of
those.
3. The one who will give the correct
answer will receive an award
afterwards.

Do you have any questions, class? : None, Ma’am.

What are the things to remember

while doing this game? Yes,
Heavana? : Keep quiet and show some disipline,
Ma’am.

Very good! Now,let us start!

That’s right!

How about the next one?

∠ + (opposite of “ON”) - F +

Yes, Marie? : Angle of Depression, Ma’am.

C. Presenation of the lesson

So, our main topic for today is the

“Angle of Elevation and Angle of
Depression”

Will you read it in chorus, class? : “The Angle of Elevation and Angle of
Depression”
D. Development of the lesson

Now, suppose you are on the top of a

mountain looking down at a certain
village, how will you find the height
of the mountain? Yes, Dominick? : I will be going to use a measuring tool,
Ma’am.

Thank you. Consider this: An aiplane

is flying a certain height above the
ground. Is it possible to find directly
the distance along the ground from
the aiplane to an airport using a : No, it’s not possible, Ma’am!
ruler?

But what problems can we encounter

if we use ruler in measuring it? Yes, : It may be hard for us, Ma’am.
Fatima?

That’s right! Don’t you know that we

can measure the distance of a certain
object to us. Let me share you my
secrets. Here is the first one. Will : Line of sight is an imaginary line that

Using the illustration, can you :

determine where the angle of
depression is, Keren?

Great! It seems like you understood

the basic concept of the angle of
elevation and angle of depression.

Let’s have a simple a simple warm-

up activity. Pictures will be flashed
on the screen and you will going to
identify whether the angle is on : Yes, Ma’am.
angle of elevation or angle of
depression. Did you understood?

Let’s us Begin.

Terrific!

: Angle of Depression, Ma’am.

Awesome!

: Angle of Depression, Ma’am.

Splendid!
: Angle of Elevation, Ma’am.

Marvellous!

: Angle of Elevation, Ma’am.

Very Good!

Excellent! Since you already

mastered how to idetify a giiven
angle if it is an angle of elevation or
an angle of depression, we may
apply them in solving problems.
Let’s consider some illustrative
: A tower is 15 m high at a certain distance
examples, will you read the

Do you have the same answer, class?

That’s correct! Let us give ourselves a : ( The students will do as told.)

triangle clap.

E. Application

Now, we will have a game entitled

“TRI-CO-MET-TEH.” We will be
group you into three, this will be
group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 (The
teacher will group the class into
three)

Will you read the mechanics of the : Mechanics:

games, Alliah? 1. Problems involving angle of elevation
and angle of depression will be flashed on
the screen.
2. Each group will write their answers on
their show-me-boards.
3. Each correct answer will gain a point.
Note: This is not a race game.

Did you understand the mechanics of : Yes, Ma’am.

the game, class?

Okay. Now, let’s begin.

: Angle of Depression.
1.

: Angle of Elevation.
2.

: Angle of Depression.

3.

: Angle of Elevation.
4.

5. A boy who is on the 2 nd floor of

this house watches his dog lying
on the ground. The angle between
his eye level and his line of sight
is 32°. Which angle is identified : Angle of Depression.
in the problem: angle of elevation
or angle of depression?

6. A man on the ground is looking

to the tarpaulin posted on the
building. The angle between his
eye level and his line of sight is : Angle of Elevation
54°. Which angle is identified in
the problem: angle of elevation or
angle of depression?

: 26.6°

7.

Group ________ got the highest

score, so they have the chance to
receive the prize afterwards.

F. Valuing

We have a question. Which angle do : Angle of elevation, Ma’am. Because we

you like most? Angle of Elevation or must not be depressed in our problems,
angle of depression? instead, make them as challenge to be a
Yes, Jojemar? better person.

What a remarkable insight! In our

lives using the angle of elevation, we
must not look down to others but
look up to them even if we are higher
than them because it connotes
respect. And using the angle of
deppression, if are higher than the
other, we must know how to help
them if they need us. Don’t
downgrade the other people just
because we are higher than them.

G. Generalization
This time let’s refresh our minds : The angle of elevation is the angle from
about the lesson we have just the hoirizontal to the line of sight of the
learned. Will you differentiate angle observer to the above while the angle of
of elevation from angle of depression is the angle from the horizontal
depression? Yes, Bryan? to the line of sight of the observer to the
object below.

IV. EVALUATION:

Okay, to test if you really understood

the lesson. Bring out one whole sheet
of paper and do this.
Direction: Illustrate the diagram and
solve the problems.
1. A hiker is 400 meters away from
the base of the radio tower. The angle
of elevation to the top of the tower is
46 degrees. How high is the tower?
2. Angel’s house is just 20 m away
from the school. She is on the 2 nd floor
of their house and she can see the gate
of their school from their house. She
determines that the angle of
depression from her to the gate is 34°.
What is the measure from the ground
to where she is looking?
Are you all done?
: Yes, Ma’am.
Alright. Pass it to the aisle and those
who are in the aisle pass it forward. : (The students will do as told)

V. ASSIGNMENT:

For you to enjoy this evening,

copy this Home Delight in your
notebook and answer it at home.

An observer in a lighthouse 48.8

m Above moving directly towards
the lighthouse. He observe that
the angle of depression are 42
degrees and 35 degrees. Find the
distance between the two vessels,
assuming that they are coming
from the same side of the tower.

Are you done copying, class? : Yes, Ma’am.

Okay. Good bye, class! : Goodbye, Ma’am. See you around and
have some fun
