A. Opening Activities

: Good morning, Ma’am!

Good morning, class?

Let us start our class with a simple

prayer. Will you lead the prayer, : Father of Light and Wisdom, thank
Sheena? you for giving me a mind that can
know and a heart that can love. Help
me to keep learning every day of my
life-- no matter what the subject may
be. Let me be convinced that all
knowledge leads to you and let me
know how to find you and love you in
all the things you have made.
Encourage me when the studies are
difficult and when I am tempted to give
up Enlighten me when my brain is
slow and help me to grasp the truth
held out to me. Grant me the grace to
put my knowledge to use in building
the kingdom of God on earth so that I
may enter the kingdom of God in
heaven.
Amen.
Thank you, Sheena.

Before taking your seats, kindly

arrange your chairs and pick up
those pieces of paper under it.
: (The students will do as told.)
Let us have a count-off starting at
from Ana. : (The students will do as told.)

What is the last number?

: 40, Ma’am.
Hence, no one is absent. Let us
give ourselves a triangle clap. Here
it goes. ( The teacher will
demonstrate the clap.) Did you get
it, class? : Yes, Ma’am.

Now, let us do the triangle clap. 1,

2,3 go. : ( The students will do the clap.)

B. Motivation / Review

Before going to our main topic for

today, let us play a game entitled “
Rebus”. Do you know this game, : No, Ma’am.
class?

If so, will you read the mechanics : Mechanics:

of the game, Ishara? 1. Pictures, words, letters, and
operations will be flashed on
the screen.
2. You only need to form word/s
out of those.
3. The one who will give the
correct answer will receive an
award afterwards.

: None, Ma’am.
Do you have any questions, class?

What are the things to remember : Keep quiet and show some disipline,
while doing this game? Yes, Ma’am.
Heavana?

Very good! Now,let us start!

Depression”

Will you read it in chorus, class?

D. Development of the lesson : No, it’s not possible, Ma’am!

Now, suppose you are on the top

of a mountain l;ooking down at a
certain village, how will you find the : It may be hard for us, Ma’am.
height of the mountain? Yes,
Dominick?

Thank you. Consider this: An

airport using a ruler?

But what problems can we

encounter if we use ruler in
measuring it? Yes, Fatima?

That’s right! Don’t you know that

we can measure the distance of a
certain object to us. Let me share :
you my secrets. Here is the first
one. Will you will you read what is
line of sight, Lesther?

Can you determine in this figure

where the line of sight is, Thyron?

:
Horizontal Line of Sight

Marvellous! How about the

Horizontal Line of Sight?
Yes, Fatima?

: The angle of elevation is the angle

from the horizontal to the line of sight
of the observer to the object above.

:
Good! How about the Angle of
Elevation? Will you read, Almira?

Thank you, Almira. Based on the

definition, can you determine
where the angle of elevation is,
Lerrica?

: The Angle of Depression is the angle

from the horuizontal to the linme of
sight of the observer to the object
below.

Incredible! How about the Angle

Alexis? :

Using the illustration, can you

determine where the angle of
depression is, Keren?

Great! It seems like you : Yes, Ma’am.

understood the basic concept of
the angle of elevation and angle of
depression.
Let’s have a simple a simple
warm-up activity. Picturesb will be
flashed on the screen and you will
going to identify whetherv the
angle is on angle of elevation or
angle of depression. Did you
understood? : Angle of elevation, Ma’am.

Let’s us Begin.

: Angle of Depression, Ma’am.

Terrific!

Awesome! : Angle of Depression, Ma’am.

: Angle of Elevation, Ma’am.

Splendid!

: Angle of Elevation, Ma’am.

Marvellous!
Very Good!

Excellent! Since you already

mastered how to idetify a giiven
angle if it is an angle of elevation
or an angle of depression, we may
apply them in solving problems.
Let’s consider some illustrative
examples, will you read the
problem? Yes, Judilyn?
: A tower is 15 m high at a certain
distance away from the tower, an
observer determine that the angle of
elevation to the top of it is 45 degrees.

board then label its pertinent
parts.

What trigonometric ratios that

relates the given sidew and the
unknown side with respect to the
given angle which is 45 degrees?
Yes, Nathaniel?
: Tangent ratio, Ma’am.

Very good! Now, who can write

the formula on the board? Yes,
Anna?

Thank you. Now, let’s give the
value of the opposite side to
compute the unknown side.

tan 45°=
x
Now, who will continue the solving
process to give us the value of x?
Yes, Sheena?

angle of elevation to the top of it is 32
degrees. What is the height of the
flagpole?

y=10 .623m

: Yes, Ma’am.
Is she correct, class?

Now, let’s proceed to the next

example. Will you read the problem, : An airplane is flying at a height of 4
Keren? kilometers above the ground. The
distance along the ground from the
airplane to the airport is 6 kilometers.
What is the angle of depression from
the airplane to the airport?
Who will now illustrate the given
example? Yes, Alexis?

:
Thank you. This time, what are we
going to do to find the angle of
depression from the airplane to the
airport? : We will be going to use

Do you have the same answer, :
class? : Yes, Ma’am.

E. Application
: Mechanics:
1. Problems involving angle of
elevation and angle of depression will
be flashed on the screen.
2. Each group will write their answers
on their show-me-boards.
3. Each correct answer will gain a
point.
Note: This is not a race game.
1.
: Angle of Depression.

2.
: Angle of Elevation.

: Angle of Depression.
3.

: Angle of Elevation.
4.

5. A boy who is on the 2nd floor of

this house watches his dog
lying on the ground. The angle
between his eye level and his
line of sight is 32°. Which angle
is identified in the problem:
angle of elevation or angle of
depression?
: Angle of Depression.

6. A man on the ground is looking

to the tarpaulin posted on the
building. The angle between his
eye level and his line of sight is
54°. Which angle is identified in
the problem: angle of elevation
or angle of depression?
: Angle of Elevation

7.

deppression, if are higher than the
other, we must know how to help
them if they need us. Don’t
downgrade the other people just
because we are higher than them.

G. Generalization
This time let’s refresh our minds
about the lesson we have just
learned. Will you differentiate angle
of elevation from angle of
depression? Yes, Bryan?

: The angle of elevation is the angle

from the hoirizontal to the line of sight
of the observer to the above while the
angle of depression is the angle from
the horizontal to the line of sight of the
observer to the object below.

IV. EVALUATION:

Okay, to test if you really understood

the lesson. Bring out one whole sheet
of paper and do this.

Direction: Illustrate the diagram and

solve the problems.

1. A hiker is 400 meters away from

the base of the radio tower. The
angle of elevation to the top of the
tower is 46 degrees. How high is
the tower?

Alright. Pass it to the aisle and those

who are in the aisle pass it forward. : (The students will do as told)

V. ASSIGNMENT:

For you to enjoy this evening, copy

This Home Delight in your notebook
and answer it at home.

An observer in a lighthouse 48.8 m

Above moving directly towards the
lighthouse. He observe that the angle
of depression are 42 degrees and 35
degrees. Find the Distance between
the two vessels, assuming that they
are coming from the same side of the
Tower.

Are you done copying, class? : Yes, Ma’am.

Okay. Good bye, class! : Goodbye, Ma’am. See you around and have
some fun.
