Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-factor Authentication
Introduction

With version 2.0 Feature Pack 11, SAP Customer

Checkout supports multi-factor/ two-factor
authentication.

This functionality enables an additional layer of

security and strong authentication of two
independent factors when creating or updating
system-critical data in SAP Customer Checkout
manager. Users are asked to provide a second
factor to their primary credentials when data is
changed in the system.

Multi-factor authentication is an optional feature,

and can be enabled by customers, if needed.

In the Users app, there is a new flag available “MFA setup done”, which provides information if the respective user has
initially set-up multi-factor authentication yet. In this example, the initial multi-factor authentication setup has not yet been
done.

As soon as you create or

update system critical data
2 in any app, and choose
“Save” to save your

critical data. In case a user wants to check or view other data, there is no multi-factor authentication needed.

Log-in into SAP Customer Checkout manager (with your user who has multi-factor authentication set-up), and create or
update user data, as needed. For example, you want to update the name of one user (1).

Navigate to the respective user, and choose “Reset MFA set-up” (1). Confirm the Reset MFA set-up with “OK” (2).

Multi-factor Authentication
Remarks
Please consider the following:

• Be aware that multi-factor authentication is set individually for each role and is not
inherited

• There is one exception of users who are excluded from multi-factor authentication:
users who have the „technical user“ flag activated (prevents from running into
issues when this user is configured for integration purpose)

• Another exception applies to users without multi-factor authorization activated:

whenever you activate MFA for a role, it is required to enter a second factor of
authentication even if MFA is not enabled for this user (this is done for security
reasons, in case you have misconfigured the system)
