OUTCOMES-BASED COURSE SYLLABUS

TERM FIRST SEMESTER

I. VISION OF TMC
A model institution with fully developed technical vocational education and skills of manpower
with positive work attitudes anchored in the core values of Professionalism and Leadership
essential in the creation of self – reliant citizens.

II. MISSION OF TMC


To build well – trained professionals, competent and employable that will meet the demands
local and international work place.

III. INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING OUTCOMES


After going through with the course standards and policies of Trinidad Municipal College, the
students shall be able to:
a. Acquire knowledge and analytical thinking skills, work ethics and values essentials to
the current demands of global market for a career in Office Administration;
b. Broaden and heighten one’s insights in respect to management principles and theories
in performing office function duties and responsibilities in the work place;
c. Acquire full knowledge and understanding of the country’s development thrust,
concerns, and socio-economic indicators.
d. Equipped with necessary competencies and proficient in terms of administrative,
supervisory, and managerial qualities, civic mindedness and responsible citizenship.

IV. PROGRAM GOALS


 Qualify of a career in office administration specifically in various general and specialized
administrative supports, supervisory and managerial positions.
 Acquire with the competencies, skills, knowledge, and work values necessary for self-
employment

V. PROGRAM OUTCOMES
Students in the discipline must exhibit the following competencies at the end of the
undergraduate program. Graduates of College of Office Administration should be able to:

 Provide general administrative and clerical support to high-level executives guided by the
Code of Ethics for Office Professionals
 Coordinate office management activities
 Manage office communication.
 Organize files, information, and office supply effectively.
 Exhibit acceptable human relation skills in a diverse environment.
 Engage in lifelong learning to keep abreast of the development in the international
employment market

VI. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES


Upon completion of this course, the students are able to:

 Adhere to acceptable norms of enhancing their personality through the physical aspect.
 Exhibit effective interpersonal skills in any social environment.
 Integrate the value of human relationship in relation to their goal in life.
 Manifest wholesome, personality inclusive of the five dimensions (physical, social,
intellectual, emotional, and moral).
 Demonstrate intellectual judgement and positive outlook in life.
 Define the different kinds of personality and factors affecting intellectual behavior.
 Apply knowledge learned on proper decorum, good manners and right conduct in any
given situation.

VII. DESIRED LEARNING OUTCOMES


At the end of the semester, a student completing this course should be able to:

 Know the importance of personality and the standards of studying successfully.


 Improve speech and know how to communicate effectively.
 Behave professionally and show interest in understanding one’s emotions.
 Widen ones understanding and patience
 Recognized the importance of one’s health and posture.
 Perceived ways to create a professional look and good impression.
 Sense the proper way of dressing in different occasions
 Distinguish the necessity on how important good manners are.
 Learn their self-worth.

VIII. COURSE DESCRIPTION


The art of getting along with people involves certain principle of psychology. It is the recognition
of human dignity, individual differences, motivation, elaboration of love empathy and
understanding. The customer has the expectation from marketing and this expectation must be
satisfied and made them comfortable with the company’s operation. On the other hand, this will
also give effective communication and interpersonal relationships.

X. GRADING SYSTEM
Students’ performance will be rated on the basis of the following:

Attendance -10%
Class Participation -10%
Individual/Group Activities -10%
Quizzes -15%
Term Project -15%
Major Examination -40%
Total 100%

XI. CLASS POLICIES


 15 minutes grace period for those students who are late, if the student/s arrived beyond
the given time will be considered as absent, unless having a valid reason.
 Late projects will no longer be accepted.
 Absences and late projects will only be accepted if an excuse letter and a valid reason will
be presented.
 Three consecutive absences will automatically be subject for drop out.
 The students will clean and arrange the classroom being use before and after the class.
 The students shall practice proper grooming: (wearing of make-up for the female
students and appropriate haircut for male students).
