Amino Acids
L-Glutamic acid was the first amino acid to be produced by
microorganisms. Corynebacterium glutamicum

L-Lysine is predominantly produced by Corynebacterium glutamicum

and to some extent by Brevibacterium flavum or B. lactofermentum.

L-Threonine is manufactured industrially by employing either E. coli or

C. glutamicum.

L-phenylalanine can be produced by both E. coli and C. glutamicum.

Aspartic Acid: The aspartase of E. coli is used.

L-Tryptophan: At present, large scale manufacture of tryptophan is

carried out by using the enzyme tryptophan synthase of E. coli.
