I would like to express my special thanks
of gratitude to God our Father, for giving
me strength all throughout the completion
of my portfolio.
To our Work Immersion instructor, Mr.
John Ismael Medina, for his unceasing
patience to his students, and his kindness
for giving us extra time to finish our
portfolio.
To my parents, Antonio and Jennylyn
Gonzaga, for their never ending love and
support.
To Malcolm Co and Via Gavino for
encouraging me to do this and for staying
up late with me.
To my group mates Reyneaxiz and
Michaela for working with me without
complaint.
To the rest of my friends who are also
going through this journey, I pray that we
can all go through this together and finish
our school year strong!
 As an inspiring medical
practicioner, I chose nursing as my
pre-med with no intent in dwelling
on it or making it as my career, but
when Dr. Torres talked about how
he also chose nursing as his pre-
med but ended up falling in-love
with it is what inspired me to have
an open mind about nursing. Maybe
I will end up loving it as a career as
well. The end video about nurses
around the world contributing to
significant medical findings and
helping people made me cry because
I felt that maybe somedayh I can also
help people and make an impact
when I become a nurse. Right now I
have so much anxiety because I dont
know if I will be accepted in UST
College of Nursing
The hospital tour in our webinar was
very insightful. They showed the
different jobs that you can have in he
hospital, their roles, and their
importance to the institution. I feel
lucky to be able to have this
opportunity to actually see the
different jobs that partake in the
hospital. They have nutrition and
dietetics, physical therapy,
pathology, radiology and so on.
Differentiating their roles and
expounding on the different
variations of jobs that you can have
in that specific path is very helpful
for us students especially when
some of us are not yet sure of what
we like
Watching the webinar about the family
medicine, I feel like their job is taking
care of the basics such as allergies,
diabetes, and common diseases. These
doctors focus more on comprehensive
health care and giving families the
adequate help they need. At first they
gave us a pretest about the basics like
“what is considered as high blood” etc.
They also introduced telemedicine,
which at first I thought would be very
difficult because of the physical
examinations that is obviously
impossible to attempt through online
consultations, but they quickly cleared
that for physical examination you
actually have to go to the clinic or
hospital in order to receive accurate
diagnosis.
 American heart Association or AHA has
made a series of videos showing how to do
proper CPR on an adult and on children as
well as doing the Heimlich maneuver to
choking people both children and adults. in
the sentence “everyone has the heart so
therefore everyone should know CPR” is
such an impactful message because it is
true, people should know how to respond in
an emergency scenario because it could
happen more often than u know. Knowing
simple first aid techniques can help you
save peoples lives. They also emphasize that
more people are afraid of doing first aid
techniques to other people because they’re
afraid of doing it wrong, As a response they
said that “any CPR is better than no CPR at
all”. What I have learned from this is that we
should not be afraid to be a first responder
to an emergency situation because it is
better that we do something than watching
them struggle or wait for professionals to
come.
In conclusion, we Health Allied students are
so fortunate to be exposed in the career
path that we will take in the future. These
webinars gave me more insight on the
actual work that they do inside the hospital
and gave me options and variations on more
possible careers related to medical courses.
Honestly one of these webinars influenced
my decision in taking up nursing as a
course. They helped me realize that serving
others and giving back to those in need is
one of the things that satisfies me as a
person and I would gladly help those who
need me every chance I get. They also
helped me answer some lingering questions
in my brain and helped me with my
confusion on which pre-med I should take.
Overall this immersion has awakened my
mind to more exciting medical stuff I’m
going to learn in college. Hopefully someday
we get to achieve the careers that makes us
happy, guided by the immersion that
imparted us so much knowledge.
