Manganese ore market holds stable, waiting for new round of alloys tenders
www.ferroalloynet.com:This week, Guangxi’s electricity price policy and Pingluo’s staggered production plan attracted much attention from the market. Its actual impact on the production cost
and output of the manganese alloy plant remains to be further observed.
The recent port stock of manganese ore has gradually decreased, but the import cost of manganese ore has remained high. At present, the activity in the spot market for China imported
manganese ore is slow. The expected price gap between suppliers and downstream alloy plants also made market transactions stalemate. Today, the mainstream quotation of Australian
manganese ore lumpy(Mn45-46%Fe5%) in Tianjin Port is 41-41.5 CNY/DMTU, the mainstream quotation of South African semi-carbonate manganese ore (Mn36-37%Fe5%) is 35-35.5
CNY/DMTU, and the mainstream quotation of Gabon manganese lumpy (Mn45%Fe5% ) is 39 CNY/DMTU.
The high import cost of manganese ore in Qinzhou Port has offset the pressure of stock growth. At present, most suppliers insist on quotation, but there are still a few suppliers who cut prices to
sell their manganese ore at hand. Quotations of manganese ore at Qinzhou Port are also basically stable.
Near the end of the month, market participants are watching a new round of alloy tenders. The manganese ore spot market is under a strong wait-and-see sentiment.

Unions want government to urgently intervene to prevent Eskom going into Business Rescue
The two unions say they fear that an arbitration ruling in their favour could tip Eskom over the edge financially.
Eskom unions,the National Union of Mineworkers(Num)and National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa(Numsa)are calling on government to intervene urgently,to prevent Eskom from
falling into Business Rescue like it happened with SAA.
Num General Secretary,William Mabapa,and Numsa General Secretary,Irvin Jim,have written a letter to Deputy President David Mabuza,requesting a meeting to discuss the financial crisis
facing the power utility.
The unions say they fear for the jobs of their members as Eskom seems headed in the same direction as SAA went a few years ago.
The unions and Eskom management currently await a date for arbitration of their wage dispute.
Both Num and Numsa are demanding double-digit increases,while management is offering 1,5 percent.
The two unions say they fear that an arbitration ruling in their favour could tip Eskom over the edge financially.
Manganese truck highjacked and set alight in NMB
A white Scania truck worth R1.6 million was destroyed by fire when it was torched by at least four unknown suspects in Nelson Mandela Bay in the early hours of Monday morning.
Captain Andre Beetge says the vehicle belonged to one of the companies transportingmanganese oreinto the Metro.
It was hijacked around 3.30 am on the on-ramp going into Addo Road off the N2 near Motherwell before being set alight and destroyed.
The driver told the police that at least four men started throwing stones at his truck and when he stopped,they took his cell phone and ordered him to run away before setting his vehicle alight.
Captain Beetge said it was not a service delivery-related attack and that there had been no other incidents in the City.

from 7400-7450 CNY/ton Ex-works, average price in last week was 7356 CNY/ton with decline of 49 CNY/ton from previous week.

Though port-side manganese ore prices corrected down slightly due to the thin buying interest of smelters, manganese ore prices was generally firm with the support of high import cost. In
Tianjin port, Australian Mn45% at 40.69 CNY/dmtu, South Africa semi-carbonate Mn36% at 34.25 CNY/dmtu and Gabon Mn44% at 38.69 CNY/dmtu. Coke price keeps going up by 100 CNY/ton

price keeps stable at 80-120 CNY/ton, electrode paste prices were stable which at 3950-4000 CNY/ton. On the whole, the production cost of the silicon manganese alloy plant has increased
about 60 CNY/ton.
The following is a rough cost calculation for Inner Mongolia. Due to the different ratio of manganese ore from different manufacturers, the grade of furnace is different, and the recovery rate of

New Movement on Energy Consumption Control in South and North of China

1. Southern region. The main place of silicon manganese production drafted a plan on "Letter from the Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuangzu Autonomous Region on
Soliciting Opinions on Strengthening the Implementation of Environmental Protection Electricity Price Policies for Some High Energy-consuming Industries" , give feedback before 25 June.
Among the differential electricity price standards, which would be increase by 0.1 CNY/Kwh for the restricted ferroalloy industry. Judging from the current feedback from the factory, it was indeed
heard in the early stage that the nature of the enterprise should be classified, but the relevant notice has not been received.
2. Northern region. The Ningxia Pingluo County Energy Conservation and Resolving Excess Capacity Office issued the notice of "Pingluo County's First Batch of Enterprises Implementing the
Staggered Production Plan". Since June, the energy consumption control of each enterprise will be monitored and analyzed on a monthly basis, enterprises that exceed the target schedule by

China Silicon Manganese Exports Witnessed a Sharp Increase in May
www.ferroalloynet.com: Global steel prices keep strong with the production growth of steel mills which caused a huge demand on ferroalloys, however, there is a serious shortage of silicon
manganese in global market.
First, the outbreak of COVID-19 caused a reduction of silicon manganese production in Indian. Second, Malaysian ferroalloy plants ( Sakura and OM’s Sawarak) were in a shutdown due to the
pandemic. Third, European ferroalloy producer Ferroglobe adjusted its ferroalloy production in May. The shortage of silicon manganese forced buyers to sourcing material from China market,
especially when Indian silicon manganese are going up continuously.
According the latest China Customs Statistics that the export volume of silicon manganese in May totaled 14,016 tons, with a total value of US$21,019,264. The export volume of silicon
manganese in May increased by 12,016 tons compared with April, an increase of 600.64% MOM. Among the exports in May, China silicon manganese was mainly transferred to Asian countries
including Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan of China, Thailand and Malaysia. The export statistics in details as under:

FerroAlloyNet acknowledged that Chinese silicon manganese 65/17 exports prices were concluded at 1500 USD/ton FOB Tianjin port (20% export duty included) which increased sharply
compared with previous time, and some exporters believed that Chinese silicon manganese prices would increase further with the continue of silicon manganese shortage. With the high profits,
more and more companies are trying to export silicon manganese, however, some insiders are concern on the likelihood of export duty increase when exports are going up, in addition, though
the shortage of silicon manganese is going to last for at least two months, insiders are worry about the production resume of foreign ferroalloy plants may exceeds expectations, and the crazy
increase of container fee and shortage of containers caused troubles for exporters. At present, the ocean freight for a 20 feet container is standing at 8000 USD, and silcion manganese export
prices on CIF is close to 1800 USD/ton which is extramely hard for buyers to bear.

The medium-carbon ferromanganese market sees a large price gap
www.ferroalloynet.com:At present, the high-carbon ferromanganese market is maintaining stability. At present, the mainstream price of high-carbon ferromanganese 65 is 6200-6350 yuan/ton,
and the price of high-carbon ferromanganese 75 is 7100-7350 yuan/ton.
The quotation gap of medium carbon ferromanganese 75C2.0 has reached 500 yuan per ton. At present, the quotation in the southern market is 9400-9600 yuan/ton, while the quotation in the
northern market is 10100-10500 yuan/ton due to short supply.
Yesterday, Guangxi issued a new electricity price-related policy, which also aroused market attention. According to the rough statistics of Ferroalloynet, Guangxi's total ferromanganese output in
May is about 23,600 tons. If the restricted production enterprises are classified according to the standard of 25000KVA furnaces, 13,600 tons of ferromanganese output would be affected by the
new policy(estimated from the output in May).

Market Sentiment Keeps Bullish Amid with Raising Prices
www.ferroalloynet.com: Electrolytic manganese metal prices again raised by 200 CNY/ton, factory offers in Hunan, Chongqing and Guizhou reached to 16,800-17,000 CNY/ton and transaction
concluded at 16,800-16,900 CNY/ton, individual factories concluded at 17,000 CNY/ton but quantity is very small, and most suppliers indicated that transactions were hard to conclude at 17,000
CNY/ton Ex-works but reluctant to sell at this level for large quantity. FerroAlloyNet learned from traders that they were mainly purchased at 16,800 CNY/ton.
The current price increased by 800-900 CNY/ton from previous month and it increased by 6150 CNY/ton compared with the same period of last year. Whether EMM could remain the upward
trend is depend on buyer’s acceptance, but bullish sentiment keeps unchanged.
