PROGRAM
As a teacher with a burning desire to uplift the standard of living of my students through
the quality of education I could provide, the only way to influence them is to act as their
role model, and help them be inspired that there's more to life out there for as long as they
work harder, dream, and continue with their studies.
SESSION 4: HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAM
Reflection:
In what concrete ways does the session help me become a more health-conscious
teacher in promoting a positive health habit?
ANSWERS:
Plan. Identify unhealthy patterns and triggers. Set realistic goals. Write down steps to
help you achieve them.
Change your surroundings. Find ways to make healthier choices easy choices.
Remove temptations. Work for changes in your community, like safe places to walk.
Ask for support. Find friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, or groups for support, or
ask people to join you.
Fill your time with healthy activities. Try exercise, a favorite hobby, or spending time
with family and friends.
Track your progress. Record how things are going to help you stay focused and
catch slip-ups.
Imagine the future. Think about future benefits to stay on track.
Reward yourself. Give yourself a healthy reward when you’ve achieved a small goal
or milestone, like a massage or personal time.
Be patient. Improvement takes time, and setbacks happen. Focus on progress, not
perfection.
ANSWER:
It is important that as a teacher I must always be reflective since designing the lesson plan
that would exercise and establish fairness, sensitivity, and no gender biases in making the
instructions. It is also vital to get feedbacks and backgrounds from colleagues and
students, use gender-neutral language, explain context appropriately, allow studnets to
free select which they're comfortable expressing themselves, and use project-based
learning and would be encouraging in accordance to their own culture for as long as it's
not harmful and doesn't violate anything with regards to learning.
MODULE 3: THE K-12 CURRICULUM
SESSION 1: EARLY LANGUAGE LITERACY AND
NUMERACY
Reflection:
1. Based on the readings, I have learned that……
Teachers must be knowledgeable about developmental characteristics, as well as critical
periods of development when specific support is necessary for normal development to
proceed. The absence of support or intervention at these critical periods may result to
behavioral, emotional, social, physical, and cognitive delays or problems. If teachers are not
aware of these critical periods, they may not be able to provide the crucial early childhood
experiences that will build the early foundations of learning.
2. I have realized that ……
Every child is a unique person with a unique temperament, learning style, family
background, and pattern and timing growth. While the sequence is the same, the RATE of
development may vary from child to child. The rate and quality of development are
influenced by: physiological maturity, heredity, environmental factors. Together, these
factors account for the tremendous range of variations in children’s development.
ANSWERS:
1. It is an approach to educate students with special educational needs.
2. It's always positive for students to be able to identify their own strengths and
weaknesses. When possible, self-assessment can lead the student to a better sense of
understanding of her own learning. The teacher should ask some guiding questions
that can lead to this discovery.
3. Through the interview, observation, and performance task.
ANSWERS:
1. Use multi-sensory strategies. As all children learn in different ways, it is important to
make every lesson as multi-sensory as possible. Students with learning disabilities
might have difficulty in one area, while they might excel in another. For example, use
both visual and auditory cues. Create opportunities for tactile experiences. You might
need to use physical cues, such as a light touch, when a student might get distracted
or inattentive. Get creative with your lesson plans, and students with special needs
will appreciate the opportunity to use their imaginations or try something new; use a
balance of structure and familiar lessons with original content.
ANSWERS:
2. Give students with special needs opportunities for success. Children with learning
disabilities often feel like they do not succeed in certain areas, but structuring lessons
that lead to successful results is a way to keep them motivated. Provide immediate
reinforcement for accomplishments, be consistent with rules and discipline, correct
errors and reward students when they make these corrections themselves, explain
behavioral expectations, and teach and demonstrate appropriate behaviors rather
than just expecting students with special needs to pick them up.
3. Break down instructions into smaller, manageable tasks. Students with special
needs often have difficulty understanding long-winded or several instructions at
once. For children with learning disabilities, it is best to use simple, concrete
sentences. You might have to break down a step into a few smaller steps to ensure
your students with special needs understand what you are asking. You might even
want to put the directions both in print and saying them verbally. Ask your students
with special needs to repeat the directions and ask them to demonstrate that they
understand. Do not give further instructions until a student has completed the
previous task.

The need of having ALS in the Philippines, many Filipinos do not have a chance to attend
and finish formal basic education (Grades 1–6 and Year 1–4) due to many reasons. Some
drop out of schools while some do not have schools in their communities. Since every
Filipino has a right to free basic education, the government establishes ALS to provide all
Filipinos the chance to have access to and complete basic education in a mode that fits

b. I find the lesson…
ANSWERS:
1. Learner profiles and class profiles offer a starting point for this planning. Inventories
and other assessment tools also may provide you with valuable information. A learner
profile describes the ways in which students learn best. A comprehensive learner
profile includes information on student interests, learning preferences and styles, and
differences related to gender, culture, and personality. It also might include information
on student learning strengths, needs, and types of supports that have been successful
in the past. A learner profile needs to be dynamic, as individual learners are constantly
growing and changing.
2. The goal of a learner profile is to find out as much as possible about how an individual
learns. The goal is not to label students as certain kinds of learners but rather to help
them develop multiple pathways for learning. When working on unfamiliar and/or
challenging tasks, students will be more confident and motivated if they are able to
work in their areas of strength.
3. As facilitators of learning for learners in difficult circumstances, teachers have to be
flexible enough without compromising quality since some of these learners are just
forced to be in such situations as those who are affected by armed conflict.
4. The mastery of the different learning styles will help you to think and plan of the most
appropriate strategies in class to make your lesson interesting and engaging. Aside
from understanding the learning types of your learners you also must understand the
theory of multiple intelligences which is directly related to addressing learning styles.
(a) My knowledge in understanding the diversity of learners and their learning needs
will help me to understand that learners do not come from the same past experiences,
economic status, cultural background, and the like. Regardless of these, each learner

learning opportunities now depends on the skills and know-how as a teacher. It is
then important that teachers need to know the needs of learners as well as how they
learn.
