A Slurp of Happiness at Kopi Kalyan

By William Wahyu and Michael Jonathan

Kopi Kalyan is a coffee shop located in BSD, more specifically at Foresta Business Loft 2, Jl.
BSD Raya Utama, Tangerang. It opens at 8.30 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m every day. It is
considered as one of the best coffee shop in the town. We went there on October 28th to
prove if it was really as good as how people described it to be.

We arrived at Kopi Kalyan at 2 p.m. After entering the coffee shop, we imediately went to
the counter to order food and drink. This coffee shop offers a wide range of drinks, such as
espresso, cappucino, lattes, teas, and smoothies, and various types of pastries, such as
croissants and danishes, on their menu. They tidily placed the pastries on transparent glass
cabinet near the counter. In case you want to have heavier meal, they also have pasta listed on
the menu.

After thinking for a while, we finally decided to order Iced Green Tea Latte and Iced
Chocolate for our drinks. For the food, we decided to order Choco- Almond Croissant and
Chocolate Danish. While waiting for our order to be prepared, we chatted on our table. The
coffee shop had a very intimate and comfortable atmosphere, making it easy to conduct
conversations. One thing that we didn’t realize before as we were to focus on ordering the
food and drink was that this coffee shop had relatively sweet aroma, which most likely was
the aroma of coffee mixing with the aroma of chocolate and pastries.

After waiting for approximately 5 to 10 minutes, our orders arrrived at our table. We firstly
tried the drinks. The drinks were great. The first one we tried was the Iced Green Tea Latte.
The Iced Green Tea Latte had a sweet, astringent taste, and leaves an alluring sweetness post
- drinking. It also had a smooth, earthy flavor. The aroma of the green tea was strong.

Next, we tried the Iced Chocolate. The Iced Chocolate had a very rich and strong aroma. It
was so thick that if you drink it, it will coat your tongue thickly before flowing down your
throat. It was sweet in just the right way and was creamy as well.

The pastries were also great. The Chocolate Danish was airy and crispy on the outside, but
was very rich and buttery inside. Not to mention it was also really flaky. The chocolate filling
in this pastry made this pastry tasted sweet. The chocolate filling was a perfect match for this
multilayered pastry.

The last menu that we tried was the Choco-Almond Croissant. This pastry had a unique sweet
aroma, the aroma you would only get from baked pastries. This pastry had crispy and flaky
layers, similar to Danish. It also had sweet, rich, and also buttery taste. It tasted sweet as it
was covered in chocolate. The almond nut completed this croissant’s perfection by giving it
nutty flavor.
The service they provided was great and satisfying. The waiter and waitress were polite and
friendly. They also served very efficiently. These made us feel really welcomed and
comfortable when we were in the coffee shop.

The price was still acceptable. The Green Tea Latte was priced 38K Rupiah and the Ice
Chocolate was priced 40K Rupiah. The Croissants and the Danish were priced 20K Rupiah
each. The price was comparable with the taste so it was worth it.

Based on our experience in this coffee shop, we highly recommend this coffee shop to you as
it is a really perfect place for you to hang out with your friends or may be just to have a small
talk with your family. Overall, perfecto.
