WARNING!
General Safety
Products not connected to ground risk damage from over voltage or over current.
Always ground products according to instructions.
Note: Always connect the grounding cable before connecting any other cable.

ERICSSON
The enclosure is equipped with a Main Earthing Terminal (MET) on the right hand side in front of the
19-inch configurable user space. The enclosure ground cable must be a 35 mm2 green/yellow
cable.
Follow the steps below to ground the enclosure.

Grounding the enclosure

Step
Task/Observation

IPR
Open the cabinet door and locate the grounding cable inlet in the enclosure, indicated by F as
shown below.

The ground cable will need to be routed through the side of the Ground Base Frame (GBF)
through the grommets and routed into the cabinet through the cable inlet as shown in the
previous step.
Note 1: For connection points on the right side inside enclosure, it is recommended to route in
the cables through the left side of the ground base frame to ensure the cables don't have a
tight bend radius when pulling them through the cable inlets.

ERICSSON
IPR
2

After bringing in the ground cable into the cabinet through cable inlet position, pull the cable
enough to have a little slack to enable it to be secured to the cabinet using cable ties later on
and connect it to the cable lug on the grounding point.
The grounding point for the cable lug will be the lower M8 stud on the MET. You will need to
use a 13mm socket and a wrench to remove the M8 stud, secure the cable lug, and tighten

the M8 stud until snug.

ERICSSON
If you don't have a cable lug, you will need to strip strip about 20mm of the ground cable
jackets, using a wire stripper, and connect the cable directly on the grounding point, the M6
stud on the right hand side of the MET.

IPR
Note 2: Route the un-stripped ground cable first through the cable inlet position and then strip
it when it is inside the cabinet.

3 Connect the other end of the ground cable to site grounding terminal.
