I – Definition of Check ETOPS (prior to ETOPS flight)

Notes for ETOPS FLIGHT:
1- Will be accomplished by B737-800 aircraft ONLY.
2- Before each intention of ETOPS flight, ETOPS qualified maintenance technicians must verify that the airplane
is satisfactory for flight.
3- ETOPS Items are identified with “ER” code (ETOPS REQUIRED). These items must be accomplished prior to
ETOPS flight only.
4- Make sure there are no ACR items “Lista de itens com Ação Corretiva Retardada” related to ETOPS operation
(Review each item from ACR Items according to MEL, taking into account the statement included on
“Remarks or Exceptions” for ER operations).
5- Resolutions of aircraft discrepancies and maintenance of multiple similar systems should be strongly
considered when dispatching airplanes for ETOPS operations.
6- Airplane Configuration Control must be checked in order to maintain the airplane in the approved
configuration at a high level of reliability.
7- Register the accomplishment of this document as CHECK ETOPS in Log book.

A SERVICE
1 Check the NLG/MLG tires for condition. Replace if damages are beyond the limits or too worn (with
tread groove no longer present at some point throughout the tire). (AMP 32-380-00, 32-380-01, 32-380-
02).
ATTENTION: Make sure the tires are cool before you measure the tire pressures. Let the tires cool for
a minimum of two hours after the aircraft has landed. Do tire check task in accordance with AMM 12-15-
51-780-801. If main landing gear tires and nose gear tires are too hot to check the tire pressures, and
there is not enough time to allow the tires to cool before the aircraft is dispatched do tire check task in
accordance with AMM 12-15-51-780-802. (AMP 32-350-00 and 32-360-00)

B LANDING GEAR STRUTS (TASKS 32-060-00, 32-010-01 and 32-010-02)

1 Check for extension and evidence of leaks (Nose landing Gear).
Check/wipe exposed portion of strut piston (Nose landing Gear) with a cloth moistened with MIL-H-
5606E or BMS3-32 TYPE II hydraulic fluid, in accordance with AMM 32-00-10-100-801.
Check for extension and evidence of leaks (RH/LH Main Landing Gears).
Check/wipe exposed portion of strut piston (RH/LH Main Landing Gears) with a cloth moistened with
MIL-H-5606E or BMS3-32 TYPE II hydraulic fluid in accordance with AMM 32-00-10-100-801.

C BRAKES – WEAR PIN LENGH INSPECTION

1 Supply hydraulic pressure to the system B and make sure the PARKING BRAKE is SET.
2 Note the remaining length of brake wear pins:
BRAKE #1 BRAKE #2 BRAKE #3 BRAKE #4

_________ inch _________ inch _________ inch _________ inch

3 Replace if wear pin has 1/32 inch or less.
NOTE: If there is not part available, contact SAOMC to plan the replacement. STEEL brakes with 1/32
inches is enough to perform approximately 15 extra cycles before flush. CARBON brakes with 1/32 inch
is enough to perform approximately 24 extra cycles before flush. GOL utilization rate is approximately 6
cycles/day.

4 Remove hydraulic power if no longer required.

D ENGINE
1 Verify if a significant amount of oil was added within the last two legs (maximum 02 QTR). Contact
MOC, report the amount of oil added and make a request for oil consumption of each Engine.

Note: Normal Oil Consumption is less than 0.40 Qrt / Hr.

Register the Engine oil consumption (calculated values) in Qrt / Hr on boxes below.

Engine #1 Quarts/Hour Engine #2 Quarts/Hour

2 Top engine oil #1 and #2 after 5 minutes from engine shut down, but not greater than 60 minutes and
record consumption.
Refill as required in accordance with AMM 12-13-11-600-801 (it is not necessary to refill up to full since
the requirements of AMM are followed), check with cockpit indication.
Note the added quantities in qt(s) on boxes below and in RTA.

Engine #1 Quarts Engine #2 Quarts

3 Perform APU oil check(on CDU-APU Maintenance page) In case of the MSG UNKNOW appears on
CDU, the oil quantity must be checked physically.
Refill as required in accordance with AMM 12-13-31-610-803, check with cockpit indication.
Note the added quantities in qt(s) on boxes and in RTA.

APU Quarts
4 Verify the IDG oil level and supply according AMM 12-13-21-600-801.

E CABIN
1 Make sure that Aileron and Rudder (Trim) are in "Neutral" position
2 Visually check and Inspect operation of Captain and F/O seat for general condition; correct installation
of seat belts and security of installation. Make sure the seat pan retracts to its fully up (closed) position
without aid.
Do this operational check for the movement of the seat:
 While you are on the seat, operate the horizontal control handle and move the seat forward and
aft through its full range of the travel.
 Make sure the seat moves freely forward and aft along the seat tracks through its full range of
movement.
 Operate the seat and release the control lever.
 Make sure the seat locks in position.
3 Test the crew oxygen system. Choose the pilot OR first officer mask and do the following SUB TASKS
(keep the mask inside the stowage box):
GOT 101-199, 301-303, 305-399, 401-405, 410, 430-999:
For airplane with B/E Aerospace oxygen masks, accomplish:

NOTE: During this test is very important to make sure that the pressure on the oxygen pressure
indicator of the P5-14 panel does not decrease more than 100 PSI. If the pressure decreases more
than 100 PSI, FULLY open the oxygen cylinder regulator inside the cargo compartment.
4 Verify that all CBs are closed except that with collar or opened for maintenance services.
5 Align both IRU’s (parking brake ON); refer to AMM 34-21-00-820-801 or BA 34-005.

8 Check hydraulic fluid quantity in the hydraulic quantity indicator. The maximum limit of hydraulic fluid in
the reservoirs is 92%, refer AMM 12-12-00-610-801.
9 After verifying the operability of ADIR`s, return the ADIRU´s switches to OFF position, if no longer
required.
