SWOT Analysis

Introduction
Victory Liner is an operating provincial bus company in the Philippines
incorporated since 1970. The name was inspired by the context of ‘victory’ Americans
left in the country after their regime. So, the founder started with a commissioned truck
to a friend that may cater passengers at both sides. Jose the founder was also the first
driver and mechanic of Victory Liner’s early years. The first terminal was located at the
now Claro M. Recto Avenue which was Azcarraga before. The route was bound to
Batangas Pier back and forth to Divisoria. In the present times, their transportation
services has two main routes which are departing through provinces in Central and
Northern Luzon. Victory Liner, as one of the largest bus company, offers quality
assistance for the passengers, operators, managers, and the people behind their
continuous progress. It is considered reliable transportation for the public because of its
reputation. Some of the notable service offers of the aforementioned incorporation are
clean buses, well-groomed crew, maintained terminals, and polite bus operators. This
has made the company gained trust and recognitions compare to some other bus
transits. In fact, the company name, Victory Liner, is one of the most renowned transit in
the provinces it operates into. Their former slogan back in its founding year was “Ang
Kayo ay Mapaglingkuran ay Amin na ring Kasiyahan”. Back then, the company in terms
of assets set third rank in the country as a transport company. In 1989, the company
made it to the second largest inter-provincial transport corporation in the country. The
long run resulted to what Victory Liner today is. However, every business, be it
corporation or not, has strengths, weaknesses, presented opportunities for the people,
and threats as well. Analyzing these would help the Victory Liner improve and enhance
their service and assistance.

and records their speed limit, some
of their drivers disregard it and just

factor can affect their company's
reputation.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the Victory Liner is one of the Philippines' largest provincial bus
companies. But still, it has brought an impact positively and negatively. According to
SWOT analysis, Victory Liner is one of the well-known bus transportation companies in
the Philippines. One of their safety features is that every bus has its own Tachograph
which monitors drivers who are speeding over speeding. It is the best feature because
there are bus drivers that drive buses recklessly without thinking that there are other
lives at risk. And that is why most of them end up in a profoundly serious accident.
Victory Liner has also collaborated with AirAsia Philippines, and they offered free bus
shuttle service for those who used AirAsia for traveling in international and domestic
flights. But the problem with this bus company is that it is not that reliable when it comes
to online facilitation. Nowadays, most people prefer to book tickets online rather than
buying them at a bus terminal on the spot. Because it is inconvenient to wait in lines to
purchase a ticket and sometimes when we are late, we miss the bus. That also leads to
another problem which is that they have an inefficient queueing system. If they develop
their online facilitation of booking tickets, their problem might be solved, and their
company will also grow. If they develop their online facilitation, they will also be
competitive with other bus companies. Because one of their threats is that there might
be other bus companies that might be better than them. It can be avoided by just
overcoming their weaknesses. And another threat is the hiring of reckless drivers. No
matter if they had installed the Tachograph, there are drivers that drive recklessly. And it
has a big negative impact on the company’s reputation.

Recommendation
Considering the presented data from SWOT Analysis, there are things to be improved
and developed more. This paper sets forth suggestions and recommendations that are
believed to be useful for the company’s service advancement. These are as follows:
1. Make use of their strength to maintain the long run and present it as an edge to
the competitors, target people, and legal authorities,
2. Ensure adequate tachographs for all units to guarantee passengers a safe trip,
3. Online channels, ticket shops, and advanced service providing websites must be
considered to develop for the convenience of people,
4. Strive for more partnerships with big companies like AirAsia so that they will be
forced to release more units and more drivers/operators will be given
opportunities,
5. Continue in innovating uniquely with high quality features, safe, and properly
tested service and assistance networks that may bring more passengers’
interest, trust, and security, and lastly,
6. Implement strict policies for the operators and the human resource manager to
ensure no reckless driver will risk the lives of the passengers. The harm that
threats and less monitored implementations might ruin the reputation Victory
Liner has been working on for ages.
