Effect of Labor Migration to the Filipino Community

In today's world, international boundaries have disappeared and the cultural diversity

intensified. The Philippines is one of the world's major migrant nations in this sense. External

migration has influenced the Philippine culture in many aspects in the previous years. Migration

becomes a significant leading economic factor initially planned as a temporary step in the

catalyst for economic growth. For the last 40 decades, displacement from labor has affected the

Philippines positively and negatively. The influence of migration is not limited exclusively to the

Philippine economy. The country's social and cultural landscape changed due to the fact that

migration has risen from over ten per cent or more than 10 million Philippines. Though

contributing to Philippines' global character, labor displacement has for decades torn Filipino

naval officers and Overseas Filipino Workers from their communities. Few jobs in the

Philippines inspire the Philippines to have a better future abroad. In addition to funding benefits,

Filipinos move to live overseas, professional growth and several other causes. Internationally,

the Philippine Government is commended on its labour migration method. Philippines seeks to

ensure the wellbeing of its citizens in the wider country as a State party to nearly all international

agreements promoting the protection and security of migrants worldwide. In addition, numerous

laws and regulations have been passed by the government securing the right of the

Filipinos abroad. While efforts by the government to secure their offshore workers and seamen,

many Filipino migrants remain vulnerable. It is troublesome, inefficient and reactive to enforce

the legislation and policies. Labor and migration really has a big impact in the Philippine

community and it is something that cannot be changed.
