Slaughtering equipment, particularly for smaller scale operations, need not be elaborate
and expensive. The amount of equipment will depend on the slaughtering procedures
employed. If possible, all equipment should be made of stainless steel or plastic, be rust
resistant and easily cleaned and sanitized. Equipment which does not get in contact with
the meat (e.g. overhead rails, working platforms, knocking pen) is usually made of
galvanized steel.
Blood collecting trough and Overhead railing system are useful and necessary equipment
needed for the slaughtering operation. The most hygienic system of bleeding and dressing
is to shackle the animal immediately after stunning, then hoist it on to a moving rail. The
animal is stuck while being hoisted to minimize the delay after stunning. Bleeding
continues until the blood flow is negligible when carcass dressing should begin without
further delay.
With the procurement of the hog/cattle equipment such as blood collecting trough/sink,
hog trolley, gambrel, hand washing facilities, hand dip/tool dip tub, industrial plastic
curtain, overhead track scale, overhead railing system, cartridge stunner, electric transfer
hoist and beef trolley (please see attached program of work-detailed estimates), the
upgrading of the Mapandan Abattoir will be realized. Hence, this proposal.
VIII. Objectives:
1. To provide the most hygienic equipment for slaughtering operation at the abattoir.
2. To protect the health of the meat consumers by using clean & healthful facilities of
the Abattoir.
3. To support the Clean, Healthy and Green Environment Program of the LGU .
4. To improve the quality of life of our constituents.
By providing the most hygienic, fast and easy slaughtering equipment, quality
slaughtering operations will be done at the abattoir and therefore will truly protect the
health of the meat consumers of the whole locality.
One of the most important program of the municipality, which is the Clean, Healthy and
Green Environment will then be supported and realized.
The quality of life of our constituents will then be improved and leveled-up.
