#FundtheForest
I. Introduction and background
As we transcend into a more develop and advanced society, our natural resources are being
compromised. Mountain ranges turn into dams, trees being cut down to build buildings, and
mountains are being holed up. Mining, illegal logging, deforestation, and pollution are some of the
long lists of environmental issues experienced in the Philippines. Sadly, we are already feeling
the effects of these issues. From low-pressure typhoons, it has evolved into super gales with
some incidences of tornadoes. Monsoon rain warning elicits fear as it can bring flash floods.
Temperatures rise, and our heat index has increased dramatically. However, environmental
strikers and organizations Youth Advocates for Climate Action in the Philippines and Greenpeace
Philippines are fighting and demanding a climate emergency because they firmly believe that
nature's splendor is the legacy of every Filipino to the future generations. If these issues are being
left in the open, there would be no future for the next generations.
Environmental awareness is not only a movement about planting more trees and marching
in the streets. According to Pachamama Alliance, it means being aware of the problems and
understanding our environment's fragility and the importance of its protection. Furthermore, it is
doing even the smallest of things to begin fixing the issues that threaten it.
Lawmakers in the Philippines passed Republic Act No. 9512 on National Environmental
Awareness and Education Act, 2008., which states that it promotes environmental awareness
through environmental education and reminds and educates citizens of their responsibilities as
stewards of the environment. This act leads various programs and organizations to rise, such as
the World Wide Fund, Greenpeace Philippines, and Bantay Kalikasan, to protect and save the
environment and our natural resources. #FundtheForest is a way to make a step and action to
save and protect every Filipinos' source of food, protection, and livelihood, even in the simplest
of things.
II. Purpose/Objectives
The primary goal and purpose of #FundtheForest is to become an online response to the
threats of global warming, climate change, food security and the preservation of biodiversity in
the Philippines, all for sustainable development. An advocacy invites individuals most especially
the youth, to become more conscious of the importance of trees in sustainable development.
Through the advocacy the you will become more environmentally aware be mindful of their actions
in the struggle of climate crisis. They will be able to educate themselves, impart their knowledge
to the community and society, and making a difference for the future's betterment, and saving the
environment's natural resources and living legacy.
III. Project Description
A. Set Activities
ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION
The pandemic has stolen most of our daily
routines, but it surely did not steal our voices.
With the given situation, webinars, blogs and
online videos and forums are possible ways to
promote awareness. These activities will be
done through the official website of
#FundtheForest. The website will be the main
Share Your Eco-Stories tool, in order to join the advocacy. Registering
through the website will allow you to share
your own struggles because of Climate
Change through an online forum. Some may
also suggest ways on how to solve these
struggles. Webinars, videos and other online
materials will be posted in the website and all
will revolve around the meaning of
environmental awareness and the possible
ways and activities you and your community
can do to participate in #FundtheForest.
Through this activity, individuals are also
encouraged and allowed to voice their
thoughts, suggestions, and experiences in the
comfort if their homes. With this, we are all
able to educate ourselves, each other and use
our voices to raise ecological awareness.
In the website, #FundtheForest will be
encouraging everyone to engage in proper
waste segregation in their homes and
neighborhood. We, #FundtheForest will post a
suggested Waste Management Plan for
participant. This will help participant become
more conscious in disposing their wastes.
Work Your Waste Improper waste management has huge
environmental impacts and can cause serious
problems. However, this activity will
encourage the participants that they can save
money while potentially creating a new
business opportunity for themselves. Having a
proper waste management can result in the
availability of valuable materials to reuse and
can improve public health.
#FundtheForest will be supporting local shops
who are selling eco-friendly items, most
especially sustainable products. Some
examples of these are clothes made from
Love Your Eco-Local recycled fabric, reusable containers and
organic food. This way, we are helping locals
with their small business and are also able to
decrease waste.
The main purpose of #FundtheForest program
is to become an online response to the threats
of global warming, climate change, food
security and the preservation of biodiversity in
the Philippines, all for sustainable
development. However, we would also like to
aim to commence with the reforestation of
trees and plants to restore trees in the local
communities in the Philippines. Planting will be
Live the Tree Legacy encouraged to participants. They will also be
encouraged to use their biodegradable wastes
as fertilizers. Moreover, using recyclable
wastes as their pots and decors helps
decrease pollution and lessen the vast amount
of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This
activity will not be hard to implement since
many people are engrossed in planting since
the pandemic. We are also encouraging
everyone to post their planting activities and
use the hashtag #LivingtheTreeLegacy to
persuade and influence others to do the same.

B. Expected Outcomes
When the activities are implanted, the outcomes are as follows:

V. Synthesis for the Implementation of the Grant Project
What is happening in our environment, not only in the Philippines but across the globe, is
alarming. According to, Fostering Education & Environment for Development (FEED Inc.), a non)-
stock, non-profit, non-governmental organization registered with the Philippine Securities &
Exchange Commission, by destroying Earth's natural forestation we threaten our existence.
Educating ourselves, using our voices, and taking action to save and protect our environment and
the future of many generations, there is no doubt that we can ease and prevent alarming and
worrisome events. We can eliminate issues that threaten it. The environment is not only about
the water, air, land, and animals, but it is also about humans too. We depend on our natural
resources to protect us from natural calamities, to provide us food, shelter, and livelihood. We
need to take a step and action to save our natural resources on which we depend on and our
legacy. That is why #FundtheForest is an advocacy not only to save the environment but as well
as to save our own lives.
