a) Problem addressed in the Young focus Philippines want to educate


advocacy children all the way from preschool to college.
Young Focus believes that education is the
most effective way to end poverty in a child’s
life. They offer different programs meet the
many needs children experience in poverty.
The approach depends on their age, their
history, their capabilities and the scope of the
family’s needs.
b) Goals (or objectives) of the Young Focus gives underprivileged children
advocacy and young people the chance to develop
themselves intellectually, emotionally,
psychologically, and spiritually by means of
education and personal coaching. Young
Focus wants to see young people developing
their (hidden) talents and gifts and, in doing so,
escape the vicious circle of poverty. Young
Focus gives a brighter future to children from
poverty-stricken families in the Philippines. In
order to be as effective as possible, Young
Focus works directly with the children in their
own environment. Young Focus follows
Christian values and principles.

d) Messages and platforms used to Young Focus wants young people to have the

through education. Young Focus wants to see
young people develop their (hidden) talents

poverty. Young Focus runs a preschool to
ensure children aged 3 – 5 have access to
early education and care. This is combined
with training for their parents in health,
nutrition, hygiene and parenting skills. Young
Focus works with children aged 5 – 20 to make
sure they are enrolled in schools and colleges,
also providing after-school learning support.
For those who have dropped out of school
there are education programs to prepare
children for re-enrollment. Young Focus
provides individual social support and social
education for all the students and their
families. Young Focus is located at 284 Dayao
Street, Balut, Tondo 1013 Manila, Philippines
and are open to the public from Tuesdays until
Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The

e) Resources and assets – These Young Focus is in partnership with its member

For students aged 6 to 20+, Young Focus
provides school fees, uniforms, books and
other school materials.
• LOVE2LEARN
This program focuses on children who have
dropped out of elementary school due to
poverty and a lack of educational and social
support.
• YOUNGLI (YOUNG UNLIMITED)
The YoUNgLI program works with the most
vulnerable 15+ year olds who have never
received an education and are often addicted
to solvents.
g) Evaluation – How was the Young Focus believes that their advocacy for
advocacy monitored and assessed? education is an ongoing process. Thus, rather
than simply aiming for a single policy or piece
of legislation, their advocacy plans may have
multiple or even changing goals and
objectives. Ideally then, Young Focus is
designed for education to be sustainable over
time. Planning for their continuity means
articulating their long-term goals, keeping
functional coalitions together and adjusting
advocacy methods as situations change.
However, as proof of transparency, they
provide annual reports.
