What is Information and Communication Technology?


ICT is defined as an extensional term for information technology (IT) that stresses the role of unified
communications and the integration of telecommunications and computers, as well as necessary enterprise
software, middleware, storage, and audiovisual systems, that enable users to access, store, transmit, and
manipulate information.
• Cloud computing – The term is generally used to
describe data centers available to many users over
the Internet.

 Clouds may be limited to a single organization

offers IT infrastructure services to businesses for cloud computing.
Some of its clients include Netflix, NASA, Slack, Samsung, Airbnb, General Electric, Spotify, Time, Inc.,
Unilever, US Department of State, USDA Food and Nutrition Service, and UK Ministry of Justice.
Last May 2016, AWS entered the Philippine market and has been catering to Coins.Ph, Globe Telecom,
Jollibee, Max’s Group, Meralco, Robinsons Retail Holdings and Unionbank.

tasks.

applications, scripts and programs that run on a

Hardware in the context of technology, refers to


the physical elements that make up a computer or
electronic system and everything else involved that
is physically tangible.

can be broadly defined as online or automated
transactions that take place between people and
organizations—without the use of paper.

Digital Data is data that represents other forms


of data using specific machine language systems
that can be interpreted by various technologies.
Internet access is the process of connecting to
the internet using personal computers, laptops or
mobile devices by users or enterprises.
There are many different ways to obtain internet
access, including Wireless connection, Mobile
connection, Hotspots, Dial-up, Broadband, DSL or
Satellite.
