A new journey will be embarked by the Grade 12 students of Marinduque State College
because of the immersion for this year. This immersion will help the students to develop and
enhance their skills related to their strand that they will all use in the near future in their future
jobs. This week is the introduction of immersion to students on what must be done and who are
the respective immersion teachers that will help them to polish their strengths and enhance their
weaknesses. The resource person for this online seminar is in coordination with the MSC
Guidance and Counselling Office.

It was March 19, 2021 where the first short immersion consultation for the Grade 12
students of Marinduque State College was done by being live through Facebook. Alongside the
live, the page MSC IMMERSION 2021 posted videos as a part of the said online seminar. The
first video is about the roles of the MSC Guidance and Counselling Office. Guidance and
counselling basically help a person to be developed into a well-functioning individual. The video
also introduces the people who can be contacted and asked questions in the Guidance and
Counselling Office. The second video is about how to start and choose our career. Based on
what I learned on the video, soft skills are the general qualities that makes a person a good
employee which is why it is also called as employability skills. Some combination of these soft
skills are social skills, character traits and employment qualities. Soft skills are applicable to all
kinds of industries unlike hard skills are only compatible to some industries. A person might
have the qualifications on a job but teamwork, communication and resilience which are soft
skills are also important. The third video is about 21 st century skills that anyone must have that
are very important. The 4Cs also known as Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration and
Creativity are the fundamental skills needed now in the 21st century. By being a critical thinker,
one can reflect critically, make connections analyze and synthesize, solve problems and draw
conclusions that can help someone become prepared in handling problems in a strategic way.
Communication is very important to every people for it can motivate, persuade, inform, instruct
and make people listen verbally and non-verbally. As for collaboration, it can be made after a
successful communication and it needs mutual respect, shared responsibility, compromise and
consensus building to all members involved in the collaboration. Finally, creativity is a risk-
taking, refining and cyclical skill that focuses on ideation and elaboration in order to enhance the
skills of a person. Career and personal development was discussed in the fifth video that was
posted in the page. Career is a profession in which the person is good match with his goals,
personality, skills and interests that enhances the skills of a person. I also learned that having a
college diploma increases the possibility of having a decent and adequate job that may attract
opportunities which will lead in improving the quality of someone’s life. Hansen also said that
career is not only about work but about the different roles we play in everyday life such as a
student, as a parent, etc. Holland’s Career Model which introduced the six types of people
known RIASEC (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional) that
emphasizes that people who prefer those kinds of things belong into that category. Doer is
under the realistic, thinker in investigative, creator in artistic, helper in social, persuader in
enterprising and organizer in conventional. As for the live video, it is all about the activities that
are required to be done in this said immersion. The immersion activities are different in each
strand that corresponds with the specialty on the students. It was said in the live that there will
be online seminars that is in accordance with narrative reports and documentation that will
serve as activities for every seminar. Since there are technical problems in the video and audio
quality of the live video, there are not much information I have learned but with the help of the
soft copy of the immersion activities, I am much more informed through it because I have a
much clearer understanding on how will the immersion go for every week and seminar by
reading the soft copy of the immersion activities.

I have learned many information thanks to the videos that was posted and through that, I
was much more enlightened on what career should I really take and what traits and skills should
I have in order to be successful in my career. Through these skills that I need, I have a much
higher possibility that I can solve my problems easily and I will be successful in the future.
