*Warning: This video can contain sensitive material.

You can also watch this video instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDCwyfIlKv8

Why do you think this can be considered animal cruelty? Do you know any other types of
acts that affect animal lives?  (Write about 100-150 words)

This video is without a shadow of a doubt an example of animal cruelty. Rabbits and other
animals are used in an indiscriminately manner to test products, substances, chemicals, and other
strong and harmful products for them. Once the products are already tested and verified that
aren’t harmful in humans, people involved in these studies don´t care about the animals that have
died because of them. This practice is totally cruel since animals are exposed to terrible practices
in labs and other facilities, of all of them conducted by humans. Big pharmaceuticals and
cosmetic companies have sponsored for many years this kind of studies in order to guarantee
health and beauty to humanity, without considering that animals weren´t born to this end.
Abuse (dogfighting and cockfighting) and hoarding behavior are other types of animal cruelty
(dogs, cats, horses and livestock) that often victimizes animals. People in need of social or
mental services impose severe neglect on animals.

https://www.aspca.org/animal-cruelty

1. Dogfighting

Dogfighting is a type of “sport” in which is denominated as blood sport in which dogs are
forced to fight one another for the entertainment and/or profit of spectators. Dogs of this kind
normally are raised in isolation because this is one of the most heinous forms of animal
cruelty, this is involved to be regularly conditioned for fighting thought the use of drugs,
including anabolic steroids. We can see those victims may have their ears cropped and tails
docked close to their bodies to minimize the animal’s normal body language. In other ways
fights can happen in variety of locations they just need 14- 20 square-foot pit designed to
contain the animals.

2. Report animal cruelty

For being able to report cases of animal cruelty you need to give a factual statement of what
you observed that includes giving dates and times, whenever possible to provide a law
enforcement, also photographs of the location the animals in question and the surrounding
but it’s important to not put in danger yourself. As well law enforcement with the names and
contact information of other people who have firsthand information or either anonymous
report, but please consider providing your information.

For recognizing animal cruelty, you can persuade aggressive, timid or fearful animal may
appear to be a cruel victim, it is not possible to know if an animal is being abused based on
their behavior alone. Otherwise, we can find physical signs of cruelty as tight collar that
caused a neck wound or has become embedded in the pet’s neck, visible signs of confusion
or extreme drowsiness in other cases extreme thinness or emaciation. In other case we can
see environmental signs of cruelty pets are tied up alone outside for long period inclement
weather without access. In cases of social media report online problems and harassment.

3. Rescue Work and Field Deployments

The ASPCA is basically the national organization that deploys requests come in from local
authorities to assist animals in cruelty cases and needs. Also, provides investigations,
forensic evidence collection and processing. This means the rescuing animals and
transporting them to safety and setting up temporary facilities to a new shelter and treatment
of animals, just to bring them justice.

Also, this is a job which had develop over the years in 2020 was one of the biggest starting
points for the rescue of victims of abuse and neglect around the country.

Activity Three:

What have you learned on this topic? Please, reflect in a short paragraph (150 words)

In this topic I learnt about the animal cruelty but mainly the problematic in the US, I believe this
is a topic everyone should know and be informed with, animals are important to our society, and
they deserve a respectable life such as a human in which animal cruelty shows the opposite. I felt
bad for all the animal cruelty cases, I think everyone that has an animal should treatment as
another human with the same treatment and life. In other hand I saw the grammatical exercises
of prohibition and permission I felt good with them and showing examples in the manifest I
made. In overall I enjoyed the topic and all the new things I learnt while the development of it, as
well I would say everyone should learn about animal cruelty and the perks of reporting these
cases and the surprising fact of the normal this can be, and we are not interested of knowing
more about it.
