 Introduction
In this project the researchers will be carrying out a research on which social media platform is
most likely to be used by a teen. Social media are interactive computer-mediated technologies
that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of
expression via virtual communities and networks.

This topic was chosen because the Mathematics Department of a particular High School in rural
St. James is launching a new intervention programme for the 11th graders who are under
performing in the subject content. The department has had at least 35% passes in Mathematics
over the past year. The members have been trying to reach out to the students but the medium
that has been used has been unsuccessful.

Hence, the researchers thought it fit to find out which media would have been the better one to
launch this intervention programme so that students can be successful. Thus the objective of this
research is to find out which social media platform is most preferred by teens in a particular
school in rural St. James.

There are approximately two hundred fifty (250) students in grade 11. Data will be collected by
giving out a survey paper to all grade 11’s. This information will be collated and then analysed.

 METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
A survey is a general view, examination, or description of someone or something. The
researchers plan to accomplish the answer for this question so we will be conducting a survey in
all 11th grade classroom at a particular school. We will ask them which social media platform
they prefer from the list:
