How does this character

Character Conflict Experienced

respond?
The conflict Pluto experiences is Pluto does not respond very well
nothing less than his brother to this conflict. The more he is
Pluto Zeus’s own doing. Zeus alone in the dark, gloomy pits of
bestowed the job upon Pluto, the underworld, the more
and doomed him with the job of sadness and hatred build up over
ruling the underworld forever. time with no light or happiness
to cure his void.

Where?
Write some words or phrases that will help you describe the setting of your story. Where do the events
take place? What does it look like there? What does it feel like there?
The words or phrases that describe the setting of this story would be gloomy and eerie. Most of the events
take place in the underworld, where Pluto is bestowed his eternal godly duties. In the underworld, it
looks like dark, endless caverns that stretch for miles and miles. It is empty and and filled with disdain. It
feels cold, like it is lifeless. It lacks the heat and presence of any signs of life.
Organization

When?
Plan the course of events in your narrative.
Exposition The 3 brothers, Zeus, Poseidon and Pluto are all given tasks. Zeus would take the sky,
and Poseidon would take the sea, leaving Pluto the unlucky task of ruling the
underworld. It was dark, and very empty. It was lifeless. The only thing that could be
felt in those endless caverns were the wandering souls trying to reach the other side.

Rising As Pluto took on his duties as god of the underworld, the setting of the dark, gloomy
Action place began to get to him. It started to drag him down as he became hateful and cruel.
He couldn’t feel anything anymore except for deep sadness. He knew he needed
something in his life. Something that would bring him the slightest bit of joy.
Climax He took Ceres daughter, in hopes that the beautiful Proserpina would be his maid of
light in the deep depths of the underworld. Though she did bring him joy, Proserpina
refused to eat anything that he offered. He felt frustrated. He thought, “Why would a
beautiful maid refuse such gifts from such a powerful, cunning god?” And though he
had his frustrations, he kept trying. He tempted her with pastries and baked good, yet
she still refused. She refused to eat until she could see he mother once again.
Falling Pluto knew all the trouble he was causing. With Ceres heartbroken, not attending to
Action the crops, the world above grew cold and grey, and Proserpina, without her mother,
she felt empty with hunger and despair. But with all this pain, Pluto felt like hi void
was finally becoming satisfied. All he needed to do, was tempt the young maiden just
to have a single taste of food in the underworld. She refused, unless she were to have
a single fruit grown by her mother. Quicksilver, the god of speed, searched the cold
and withered earth until he found one pomegranate. He brought it back to Pluto, and
Pluto offered it to the mistress. With his selfish need or the girl, he deeply hoped she
would sink her teeth into the delicious fruit. Proserpina was to hungry, that she had
only taken one single taste of the fruit before stopping herself.
Resolution With that taste of the fruit, Pluto allowed Proserpina to see her mother once more, yet
he knew, with how ever many seeds she swallowed, those were the amount of months
she had to stay in the underworld with him. He was very satisfied with himself when
he realized Proserpina swallowed 6. She would stay 6 months with him, and 6 months
with her mother Ceres. He was able to keep his only light in the dark, eerie
underworld.

Voice
How?
Think of how you would like your reader to feel after finishing your story. Brainstorm ways to use
different literary devices to establish tone and emotion. List the literary devices you intend to use, and
provide at least one example of each.
Point of View:
What point of view will you use in your story?
Why did you choose that point of view?

The point of view of my story is 3rd person omniscient. The narrator is all knowing of all the character’s
emotions and feelings. I choose this point of view because I wanted to show Pluto’s full thoughts
throughout the plot, and his side of the story.
Tone—What is the attitude of your story? The attitude of my story changes throughout the plot. It
starts out depressing from Pluto’s POV, but then by the end, the attitude shifts to a more positive
POV from Pluto.
Pace—How fast is your story going to move?
Words to describe the tone: depressing, gloomy, pitiful, but then towards the end the tone becomes
positive and softer.

How will you communicate that tone?

I will communicate that tone by shifting Pluto’s thoughts throughout the plot.

How do you want readers to feel after they read your story?
I want the readers to understand more about Pluto’s POV, and feel like the relate to him more,
needed that light of happiness in your life.

What pace fits your narrative: A pretty neutral pace

Why?
Because I want the readers to throrowly understand the emotions going on throughout the plot.

How will you create that pace?

I will create that pace by being descriptive, and giving a lot of meaning to the events taking place.
