NEW YORK

Gastronomy
The city of New York has been considered by
many historians as the home of immigrants from
all over the world. They brought with them their
heritage, gastronomy, and culinary arts which they
share with America. You can walk in China town
have amazing pecking duck and right across the
street you may go to Soho and enjoy nice
pastrami sandwich in white bread, on the other
hand Bucaramanga lacks that type of gastronomy
which is overlapped with New York City.
Bucaramanga does offer a vast majority of
different steak plates one restaurant, in particular,
will be Mercagan, their menu has so much to offer
in a different type of meats that you wouldn´t
know where, to begin with. By the way they have
a signature delight known as “hormigas culonas”
they are fried ants which I find quite delightful,
they are sweet and taste very good.
Leisure Activities
Bucaramanga has one of the
greatest attractions of Colombia
which is “The Santisimo” it has a
height of 35 meters and stands on
the top of a mountain in Florida
Blanca. This is an amazing activity if
you want to enjoy if you wish to walk
to the top or drive-by Car. One other
alternative that Bucaramanga has is
the vast majority of having the
greatest number of parks in
Colombia. New York has the biggest
park in the world which is Central
Park with an area of 3.42 Km. New
York has many museums and
historical places to go to such as the
Museum of the City of New York, The
Museum of Modern Art among
others. You can also take the ferry to
the Statue of Liberty and the empire
state which is one of my favorite
places to go to. Although these
historical places are very beautiful
there is always one that breaks my
heart which is ground zero where the
twin towers used to be.
Transportation

Since the history of time, New York City among

Chicago has one of the best systems of
transportations around the world. We can
catch a train, a bus, a cab, or even a carriage if
we wish to go around the central park even
though Bucaramanga does have a
transportation system, but their cab and bus
fleet are way smaller. Both cities do have rush
hour which I could say is normal around the
work. One thing Bucaramanga lacks is a
subway transportation system that moves
millions of people on a daily basis.
Living and Work
Bucaramanga is cheaper than New
York in many ways. Rent wise New
York has the highest values in real
estate compared to Bucaramanga. If t
a person pays a rent of around $1000
dollars a month a normal rent of 4
people living in an apartment will be
compared to around $400 dollars a
month. Also, fruits & vegetables in
New York are more expensive than
Bucaramanga, any fresh fruit or
vegetable in Bucaramanga is less
expensive since many of the fresh
produce are grown by us in Colombia.
Weather
One of the most beautiful things to admire
from New York is that it has all 4 seasons in
comparison to Bucaramanga which is
extremely hot and is usually has a rainy
season. In New York, you can watch all the
Fall, Winter, Summer, and Spring and fall in
love with this kind of weather change.
During winter you can see snowfall and you
can enjoy Christmas by buying authentic
pines trees, during the summer you can
see the Mets and the Yankees play ball. So
many things to do but there a no words,
New York is the city for everyone.
Population and People
Bucaramanga has a population of approximately
2.280.000 people according to the last census it is
a very small city compared to New York City that
has an 8.419 million so technically it is a much
bigger city. The people of Bucaramanga are very
hardworking, sociable, and very heartwarming. In
New York City you will find all types of people
from nice to angry to even aggressive. Some of
them are very nice as well but they sure have that
world-famous New York temper. Also, one big
difference is that the people of Bucaramanga tend
to be very helpful when New Yorkers do not care if
someone falls off a staircase.
