1a) Briefly explain the following and provide two examples of each:
i) Quantitative Variable
ii) Qualitative Variable
iii) Ordinal Data

1b) State whether the following quantitative variables are discrete or continuous and give your
reason.
i. Number of patients who tested positive for Covid-19 in December 2020.
ii. Weight of male adults registered for a weight loss program.
iii. Number of Covid-19 testing centers available in each state.
iv. Amount of fluid in each bottle of orange juice.

i) A quantitative variable represents thus a measure and is numerical for example


weight of student.

ii) Qualitative variables non numerical it may be nominal, ordinal or dichotomous for
example ethnicity.

iii) Ordinal data is value that can be arranged and distance between two values is not
known can cannot be measure.

i) Discrete data which because Number of patients who tested positive for Covid-
19
in December 2020 are whole number which from obtain counting process
ii) Continuous data which because weight of male adults registered for a weight
loss program are decimal number which through measuring process
iii) Discrete data which because number of Covid-19 testing centers available in

a) Construct a frequency distribution table and use 2.0 as the lower limit of the first class.
b) Obtain the lower and upper boundaries, the class midpoints, and relative frequencies.
c) Draw a histogram and frequency polygon (separately) based on the data.
d) Prepare a “less than or equal to” cumulative frequency table and polygon.
(Note: computer generated charts are not acceptable).

b) Create the necessary tables for the data found.
c) Decide on the appropriate chart(s) (bar chart/multiple bar chart/pie chart) to
represent the data and construct the chart(s). (Note: computer generated charts are
not acceptable).
d) Give comments and/or make comparisons on the data based on the chart(s)
produced.
