I. Introduction:

The importance of providing career orientation to students has been studied in numerous researches.

Savickas found that career orientation explicitly fosters students' awareness of tasks to be faced and decisions to

make. Krumboltz and Worthington pointed that learning is essential not only for students to develop the basic
employability skills required for the school-to-work transition, but also for the development of work habits,

beliefs, interests, and values.

Similarly, Lent and Worthington said that responding to national and local initiatives, the career

development profession has been engaged in efforts to aid understanding and facilitation of the school-to-work

transition process. Kuijpers, Meijers, and Gundy indicated that career guidance in school, in which a dialogue

takes place with the student about concrete experiences and which is focused on the future, contributes to the

presence of career competencies among student. A recent study by Loan and Van howed that career guidance

aimed at assisting students to reflect on their ambitions, interests, qualifications and abilities. It helps them to

understand the labor market and education system, and to relate their needs in life and to become responsible

global citizen.

The Senior High School Department headed by Madam Clarita R. Magat and Senior

High School Designate Katherine T. Alcantara conducted a meaningful activity such as Orientation

about “Career Guidance Program” to provide guidance on the career path to which a learner will

take. The activity aims to unify understanding about the four (4) curriculum exits of a Senior High

School student. The Orientation aims to:

1. Relate students’ int interest in choosing a curriculum exit.

2. Determine preferred life and career based on chosen curriculum exit.

3. Appreciate the chosen life, career and curriculum exit based on one’s interests and

personality type.

The Career Guidance Orientation started by Madam Marites R. De Guzman, Master of

Ceremony followed by Opening Prayer led by Sir Renante P. Graven with Audio Visual Presentation

of the National Anthem. Sir Marcelo T. Esteban, Principal II gives the welcome remarks followed by the

House Rules discussed by Madam Shyla Joy R. Bartido followed by a Roll Call led by Madam Maricar

R. Domingo. Inspirational message was given by Madam Ailleen L. Dellosa, Focal Person of Senior

High School.

The SHS Guidance Designate Madam Katherine T. ALcantara as the Resource Speaker

discussed comprehensively the topic about “Entering the Exits: Four Curriculum Exits” which provides
guidance on the chosen career path of students. Invited speakers PCpl Mark Cyrus G. Alcantara also

discussed “How to choose a career path?” followed by Ronel M. Sagun, PTRP also discussed the topic

“Discover your Life Purpose”.

Awarding of certificate is given to the speaker followed by the Closing Remarks of Madam

Clarita R. Magat, Head Teacher VI of Senior High School Department.
