Thesis statement

Authors are writers with a goal to share the knowledge that they own to their audiences.

Goal Diggers

We live in a generation where information are mostly shared through printed materials.

Reading is an essential tool to be updated about the emerging knowledge and issues around us. I

have been a person who attains information on the internet and published books. As a student, I

only care about the literary piece that I’m handling and not giving much attention to the author

who made it. I’m just considering them just for the sake of giving attribution to their work. They

have never been the main concern since the reason for reading a literary work is to understand the

subject matter they made.

But who are the people behind those sources? What is the definition of the word “Author” in

today’s generation? And how generational gap affects our perception about authorship?

What is an author?

We often use the words author and writer interchangeably but they are quite different.

According to Shekhawat (2016), if your work is unpublished and even if the idea is purely your

own, you are considered a writer while an author is a writer with a published work. Authors are

working behind the scene to provide books, magazines, articles and other written texts that are

essentially used for pleasure, entertainment and sources of data.
