Dear GOOD South Africans
South Africa has been through the gravest crisis in our democratic history.
We have lost many of our loved ones to the Covid-19 pandemic. It has
changed how we live and work - and it has devastated the livelihoods of
many South Africans and the broader economy.

The pandemic has revealed the stark injustice of inequality and unemployment;
the unfairness in accessing basic social services; and made already struggling
households inhumanely hungry. It is up to us - up to all good people - to disrupt
the “business as usual” and change and shift the way we do things.

There is a lot that doesn’t work in our country - but that just means that there is a
lot that needs to be fix. The only way to get rid of corrupt leaders who steal is to
vote them out. Lend us your vote so that we can bring good people - with a real
plan to grow our economy and unite our society - to build a country that is fair,
where neighborhoods a re safe and clean streets are lined with happy homes.

If we have to fight for your good hood, we will do that. We will fight the
corruption, looting, worsening inequality and unemployment by putting people,
not politicians and cadres, at the centre of every decision we take. To achieve
a good country, you also have a responsibly- the decision you make about your
vote will determine our common future.

I have left political movements that lost their way, but I have never lost my
principles: I have always served our country through fighting for clean
governance, for a caring ethical state and for a government that works for
spatial, social, economic and environmentaI justice.

GOOD is building a society that is fair, prosperous, caring, and one that
is sustainable for our future generations.

For the love of our country, lend us your vote so that we can serve you.
If we do not deliver what we promised - then you must take your vote
away in the next elections.

Let’s build a good future for all South Africans by working

together to make your neighborhood a good one.

Patricia de Lille, leader of GOOD

INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS
GOOD will ensure that towns and cities provide services to informal settlements.

GOOD will provide title deeds to residents in informal settlements, to serviced

sites on public land, so that they can have security and invest in their own homes.

GOOD will consult with informal settlement communities about the best model
for title deeds for them

MORE AFFORDABLE WELL LOCATED HOUSING

GOOD will increase the delivery of affordable housing by using public land
for public good.

GOOD will ensure that there is an appropriate mix of high density affordable
and rental housing on well located land.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
GOOD will integrate all public transport systems under a single transport
authority, at local government level, to create a more efficient, cheaper
and easier service.

GOOD will provide free off peak public transport to everyone – enabling
pensioners to access clinics and unemployed people to get to interviews.

INFRASTRUCTURE
The role of government is to create the environment with conditions conducive
for job creation by investing in infrastructure. Infrastructure includes repairs
and maintenance of existing infrastructure.

We will prioritise cutting red tape. We will prioritise supporting SMMEs.

We will provide trading premises for micro businesses and informal traders.

FIGHT CORRUPTION AND STOP WASTE

Corruption steals from the poor. GOOD will ensure there are consequences
for corruption and waste. Corrupt people must be prosecuted and put in prison,
not in government. The public service must be professionalised.

We will open tender processes to the public to bring transparency. The more
corruption and waste we stop the more we have to spend on services.

YOUR MONEY - YOUR SAY

The money in a budget is your money, raised from rates and taxes, so you must
have a say in how that money is prioritised to be spent.

GOOD will introduce processes for communities to directly decide how to spend
their municipal budgets.

SAFER COMMUNITIES
To make neighbourhoods safer we must stop crime before it
happens by addressing the root social causes of crime.

To reduce crime we will employ more social workers to address

the causes of crime in our communities.

Deliver enough shelters and safe space for women and children.

Treat drug addiction as a health issue and expand drug rehabilitation services
giving young people the opportunity to get treatment rather than prison sentences.

HOMELESS TO HOUSED
Every persons journey to homelessness is unique and we must address
the personal circumstances that led to those people living on the streets.

GOOD’s plan to reducing homelessness is to prioritise spending

on supporting reintegration.

GOOD will not criminalise homelessness.

GOOD will expand social support and available shelter.

AFFORDABLE, EQUAL SERVICES

Water and Electricity must be affordable with support
for households that need assistance.

The increased water and electricity tariffs are daylight

obbery and costs must be reduced.

People must pay for what they use without mark-ups

and profiteering.

GOOD will provide 6kl of free basic water

and 150kWh of free basic electricity.

WATER SECURITY
Water security is one of South Africa’s greatest risks. To continue to
provide water sustainably, local governments must reduce waste within
their own networks.

GOOD will repair and replace aging infrastructure that causes leaks and
the loss of millions of litres of water.

Clearing catchments of thirsty invasive alien trees means more water security
for towns and cities.

SAFER CLIMATE = SAFER FUTURE

GOOD will drive a city-led transition to a resilient, green economy:
- Accelerating procurement of cheaper renewable power
- Disinvesting from fossil fuels
- Shifting to public transport and electric vehicle fleets
- Promoting inward growth and prohibit sprawl
- Investing in waste to energy facilities

CLEAN, GREEN & HEALTHY NEIGHBOURHOODS

Residents deserve clean, green, healthy
neighbourhoods. Sewers must work, stormwater
drains function, water and electricity be safe
and reliable, rubbish removed regularly,
air pollution controlled and parks that are
healthy and safe for children.
