KEYWORDS
Page Size the page size of a new document is 8.5 inches by 11 inches.

Page the way in which a rectangular page is oriented for normal viewing.


Orientation
Margins the space between the text and the edge of your document.

Gutter A gutter margin adds extra space to the side margin, top margin, or
inside margins of a document that you plan to bind.

Header the top margin of each page. and a footer is the bottom margin of each
page.

Footer A footer is the bottom margin of each page.

Widows a very short line – usually one word, or the end of a hyphenated word –


at the end of a paragraph or column.

Orphans the first line of a paragraph that appears as the last line of a page, or the
last line of a paragraph that appears as the first line of a page

Columns a vertical line of characters extending from the top to the bottom of the
screen.

Column Break A column break places a hard break, much like a page break or


section break, in the inserted location and forces the rest of the text to
appear in the next column.

Page Break a code inserted by a software program (e.g., word processor) telling the


printer where to end the current page and begin the next.

Section Break Section breaks are used to divide the document into sections

Text Text alignment is a paragraph formatting attribute that determines the


appearance of the text in a whole paragraph.
Alignment

Line Spacing the distance between lines of text.

Tabulation a paragraph-formatting feature used to align text.
