Rajiv Gandhi Education City
A Haven for Higher Learning in the coming years
The main driver of educational growth in Sonepat is the Rajiv Gandhi Education City which will host
engineering colleges, medical schools, MBA, research centres, genetics, aviation and law schools.

• Winds are generally light, with some


strengthen in force during late summer and
early monsoon season.
• In the south-west monsoon season, winds from
the south-west and west are more common,
with the easterlies and south-easterlies blowing

SOIL PROFILE
The Khadar
• The khadar region is formed along the Yamuna river. The
soil is fine clay loam, which is basically left by the
receding floods of the river Yamuna.
• Farmers of Sonipat cultivate rice and sugarcane in the
areas of khadar. In the recent times, they have started
planting papaya, banana and other fruits trees.

The Upland Plain


• The upland plain basically consists of Sonipat tehsil,
which is located to the west of Khadar. It is covered with
old alluvium.
• There is extensive farming of flowers, vegetables,
horticultural plants, oil seeds and crops in this part of
Sonipat area. The ridges in Gohana tehsil are recognized
as the northern most extension of the Aravalli's.

The Sandy Region


• The sandy region of Sonipat district is the much smaller
part of the district, which is covered with soil consisting of
sandy loam or sand. The parts of this region have high
PH values that lead Kallor land.

Psammaquents and Haplaquepts- These soils are found in Yamuna Plains
Hap aquept- These soils are non saline, alkalinity hazards are classified as
typic us ochrepts but water logged soils with loam to clay loam texture
showing the effect of glazing, are classified as aeric/ typic Haplaquepts.
Areas as aeridic soil moisture have soils classified as camborthics and
torropsamments. Sandy loam (Bhuri)
Parts of this region has high PH value of soil leading kallor land.
The soil in district Sonepat is rich and quite suitable for all types of
agricultural crops as well as forest cover. The types of soil may be
classified according to textures as :
1.Sandy(Raitali), 2.Sandy loam(Bhuri), 3.Loam(Rausli), 4.Clay loam(Karti)
& 5. Clay(Dakar)

Composition of Soil

• The main soil of the district is a good alluvial loam with


sufficient moisture and is mostly rausli in texture.
