Ans. Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skilfully Conceptualizing,
applying, analysing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by,
observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action.

2. What are the steps to critical thinking? (2marks)


Ans. 1. Knowledge- knowledge requires that individual be able to identify what is being said: the
topic, the issue, the thesis, and the main points.  
2. Comprehension- understanding the material read, heard or seen.
3. Application- Application requires that individual know what individual have read, heard, or
seen, that individual comprehend it, and that individual carry out some tasks to apply what
individual comprehend to an actual situation.
4. Analysis- Analysis involves breaking what individual read or hear into its component parts, in
order to make clear how the ideas are ordered, related, or connected to other ideas.
5. Synthesis- Synthesis involves the ability to put together the parts individual analysed with
other information to create something original.
6. Evaluation- Evaluation occurs once individual have understood and analysed what is said or
written and the reasons offered to support it.

Ans. 1) Product: - Product refers to a good or service that a company offers to customers.
2) Price: - Price is the cost consumer pay for a product.
3) Place: - When a company makes decisions regarding place, they are trying to determine
where they should sell a product and how to deliver the product to the market.
4) promotion: - Promotion includes advertising, public relations, and promotional
strategy refers to specific and thoughtful advertising that reaches a company’s target market.

Ans. i. Cut your coat according to your cloth - The aeroplane owner said to cut the coat according to
the cloth when asked about company salaries.
ii. Beggars can’t be choosers - Tina and Ryan demanded expensive gifts for their wedding
reception. Tina’s father reminded them that beggars must not be choosers. So, receiving gifts is like
begging.

2. The image of Cadbury’s chocolates took a beating when consumers found worms and insects in
some of the
products. The sales of Cadburys’ products dipped considerably despite the fact that the Cadbury’s
Company has
been in India for more than 50 years and its chocolates have been immensely popular. Consumers
who found worms
in the chocolates told media persons that the chocolates were brittle, full of holes and had lost their
colour and
moisture. Reacting sharply, the public relations officer of Cadbury’s said that all their products go
through stringent
quality checks before being distributed. The officer also pointed out that the chocolates carried
instructions on the
label indicating that it has to be stored in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight. EPT
