Mr.

Sloth Amigurumi
Pattern by AmbrosCrochet
The head, the body, the arms and the legs of the sloth are worked in rounds - do not
join at the end of each round.
Finished size: approximately 15 cm x 12 cm (6 inches x 4.7 inches)
Yarn: I use 100% acrylic yarn - Schachenmayr Bravo, to be precise, in three different
shades of brown and black, but you can use whatever colors and yarn works for you.
Crochet hook: 3 mm
You will also need: scissors
pins
tapestry needle (or needle and thread)
9 mm safety eyes (or needle and black thread if you wish to
embroider the eyes)
toy stuffing
pliers (optional)
wire (optional)
Notes: pattern uses US terminology

Abbreviations and stitches used: magic ring

single crochet = sc
increase = inc
decrease = dec
slipt stitch = ss
chain = ch
back loops only = blo
fasten off = f/o
How to read the pattern: rnd x → we are working on round x
(x sc, inc/dec) * y → the instructions between
parentheses have to be repeated y times; (x sc, inc/dec)
means we will work one single crochet in each x
stitches, and then work one increase or one decrease
into the next stitch. For example, (3 sc, inc) * 6 means:
work one single crochet in each of the next three
stitches, one increase in the fourth stitch; repeat six
times
x sc, inc/dec →
work one single crochet in each of the
x stitches, then work one increase/decrease in the next
stitch

Assembling

Place the nose so that the base

of the nose - which
corresponds to the starting
chains - alignes with the blo
starting in round 3 of the head;
sew the eye patches to the
head

Attach the head to the body - the face

should be on the same side as the
wider side of the body, while the side of
the head should be on the same side as
the narrower side of the body
The body should cover rounds 9 - 12 of
the head
I like to tilt the head a bit so that the
sloth looks cuter

6
Start by placing a leg first; place it so
that it covers the body starting from
tound 7, a couple of stitches higher
than where the middle of the body
would be - you can trace an imaginary
line starting from the magic ring of the
body to find its middle

Place the arm on the same side, two

rounds up from the leg; the bottom of
the arm and the bottom of the leg
should be aligned

Do the same on the other side; you

can use the tips of the leg and the arm
you have already placed to figure out
where you should place the other arm
and the other leg; make sure that the
tips of the two legs and the tips of the
two arms can be sewn together

7
You can make a little branch for the sloth to hang on to; cut a few pieces of wire as long
as you like, twist them together and wrap them in tape; you can also crochet the branch
(start with a magic ring
rnd 1: 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
rnd 2: (inc) * 6 (12)
rnd 3: in blo, 1 sc in each stitch (12)
rnd 4 - until you have reached the desired length: 1 sc in each stitch (12)
stuff the branch
rnd x: in blo, (dec) * 6 (6))
