We can help prevent infection and any other diseases by having a healthy
lifestyle, proper diet, and most especially proper hygiene. We are all aware how the
COVID 19 hinders us from enjoying the normal things that we do and enjoy, and we are
all aware on how the virus spreads through human to human and by touching surfaces
contaminated with the virus. Thus, having knowledge about proper ways to combat this
unseen opponent. WASH in schools’ advocates about clean, accessible and potable
water, waste management, proper sanitation and environmental cleaning that are all very
crucial as well as important in this time of Pandemic.
Since schools shift from face to face to virtual, the challenge is also there for all
school programs to continue especially WinS. But despite what’s happening this year,
the COVID-19 pandemic provides a reminder that one of the most effective ways to stop
the spread of a virus is also one of the simplest – hand hygiene. To beat the virus today
and ensure better health outcomes beyond the pandemic, handwashing with soap must
be a priority now and in the future. Just like what the Global Handwashing Day theme
says, “Hand Hygiene For All”. Washing your hands really saves lives and saves your own
life in this time.
Despite the unavoidable happenings, the WinS still commits to promoting
handwashing access and practice in all settings, and most especially to the households
of students since they are not allowed to go out.
In the vicinity of the school, information regarding proper washing of hands are
posted in the washing areas while others are the Covid 19 protocols that the teaching,
non-teaching as well as parents, stakeholders and visitors need to abide while they are
around the vicinity of the school.
Handwashing and brushing of teeth of students at home. This is a simple
way to create awareness and advocate proper hygiene even though they
are staying at home. Students together with their parents can exercise
proper hygiene routines and enjoy a healthy living.
