A. Develop and strengthen PECS needed to be a successful entrepreneur in
Cookery.

FIRM-UP

In our country, the food business has grown big. Even some of those who started small
grew big over the years. The food industry creates many opportunities that can develop
one’s potentials.
In the previous years, you learned about the character traits, qualities, skills and
competencies of successful food entrepreneurs. This time, you need to evaluate which
of your won competencies still need to be strengthened or improved. This way, you can
make a name for yourself in the food industry. When you become successful you are
instrumental in contributing economic growth and progress to your own family,
community and country.
The common entrepreneurial competencies practiced by
successful food entrepreneurs include the following.

1. GOAL- ORIENTED
A successful food entrepreneur creates specific, measurable,
attainable, relevant, and time-bound goals.

2. RISK-TAKER
A successful food entrepreneur takes risks in new ventures and
innovations when there is a possibility of having much gain.

3. PERSISTENT
A good food entrepreneur implements different alternatives to
improve service and to satisfy the needs of the customers.

4. OPPORTUNITY SEEKER
A good food entrepreneur develops the ability to look for markets for
their food products. Nowadays, networking opens more business
opportunities.

5. INNOVATIVE
A food entrepreneur becomes successful by making good
decisions and developing new techniques to improve food
offerings.

6. COMMITTED
Potentially successful entrepreneurs strive for excellent
quality and affordable food items
7. HARDWORKING
A good food entrepreneur believes that putting time and
energy in the business yield best results. Many successful
entrepreneurs started with nothing except hard work and
determination, and are now successful in the food business.

8. OPTIMISTIC
A food entrepreneur who has a positive attitude towards work and views problems as a
challenge to improve and to move forward is most likely to succeed.

9. KNOWLEDGEABLE
A good food entrepreneur knows the ins and outs of the business and continuously
strengthens his skills

10. SOCIABLE/ HAS GOOD HUMAN RELATIONS


A good food entrepreneur should possess the necessary intelligence and emotional
stability, is tactful, fair, and kind to employees and customers.
