Lit. Comp
4a. Which aspects of Mitty’s personality trigger his fantasy life?
Mitty was proud and disdainful. He showed great leadership and responsibility and these aspects of his
personality triggered the final daydream.
4b. In what ways is this daydream a comment on his fate in real life?
He might wish that he was different. In his fantasies, he is smart, respected, and successful yet in real
life, he is the exact opposite.
5a. Did Mitty’s daydreams help him in any way or do they hurt him? Write down three details from the
story that support your evaluation.
The daydreams that Mitty had hurt him more than help him because he would get stuck in awkward
situations. Such as:
*A lady heard him say puppy biscuit and thought he was crazy.
6a.
6b. Mitty wants to be a man who is bold, courageous, a leader, and well-respected person yet in real
life, he is the opposite. He is shy, a pushover, and not respected in no means what so ever.
7a. Walter Mitty was round because of this wild imagination. Mrs. Mitty was flat because she was
commanding the whole story.
7b. Walter Mitty was a dynamic character because his imagination changed while Mrs. Mitty was static
and didn’t change at all in the story.
WRITING
The first daydream about Walter being a commander in the military was the most interesting to me.
Walter was commanding (like his wife) and respected. He was a leader unlike himself in the real
world. He was brave and got the crew through the hurricane.
You would think that he was a strong and well-rounded male as a first impression.
“We’re going through!” “I’m not asking you, Lieutenant Berg!” “The Old Man’ll get us through.”
