freebritamerica@gmail.com Free Britney America is a group founded in Washington, D.C. to help raise
awareness for the abuse endured by Britney Spears and thousands of others under
unlawful conservatorships & guardianships. Under U.S. law, conservatorship is the
appointment of a guardian or a protector by a judge to manage the financial affairs
and/or daily life of another person due to old age or physical or mental limitations. It
is estimated that there are currently 1.3 million adults in conservatorships with
thousands of those being corrupt. Over $50 billion in assets are being controlled
by guardians & conservators. Conservatorships are meant for individuals who are
incapacitated such as those with Alzheimer’s Disease, someone who is in a coma,
has suffered a stroke or brain injury, etc. A conservatorship signs many (if not all) of
your rights over to a guardian who can then make medical and financial decisions for
you. These powers allow “career conservators” to steal from and drain these
individuals dry until they have nothing left. This is happening every single day and
is considered “legal” (although highly unethical) due to the unlawful probate court
system.

Why #FreeBritney?

Britney Spears, now 39, has been under a conservatorship since 2008,
making it 13 years since the inception. Since 2008, Britney Spears has released
several albums, had world tours, a highly successful 4 year Las Vegas residency;
Britney Spears: Piece of Me, appeared as a judge on The X-Factor and preformed
countless other brand related duties that a conservatee shouldn’t be able to preform.
Ms. Spears has been referred to as a “high-functioning conservative” and has
had her conservatorship referred to as a “hybrid business model”, all by those in
her inner circle. No such thing should exist. Britney Spears has showed the world
numerous times that she is capable of managing her career, making her own
decisions-professionally AND personally- and that she is undoubtedly not a
candidate for a conservatorship. Ms. Spears went through a mental health crisis in
2008 (just like so many of us do every single day) and instead of being met with care
and compassion, she had all of her rights stripped from her, was forcibly placed in
treatment facilities and put on medication and then right back out into the workforce-
all within less than a years time. Her mother, Lynne Spears claims that Britney’s dad
Jamie Spears once told Ms. Spears that she was “Like a racehorse and should
be handled as one”. Ms. Spears has had no say in her career and financial decisions
for the last 13 years, but yet she’s the one working year round to provide for her
“team”. It is vehemently clear to many that Britney’s team does NOT care about
her well-being, but instead about “Britney Spears” the brand. Ms. Spears was
also told that this conservatorship would be temporary and would only serve to help
her regain stability in her career after her “breakdown”. 13 years later, the
conservatorship still stands, iron-clad, with Britney’s team pushing an agenda
that she isn’t well enough to care for herself. We know this isn’t the case.

Britney Spears’ Court Testimonies

On June 23rd, 2021, Britney Spears was heard by Jude Brenda Penny (and the world)
as she courageously shared some of the horrific details of what she has endured
under the 13 year long conservatorship. Saying that she “truly believes” that this
conservatorship is “abusive”, Ms. Spears detailed several parts of her life under this
guardianship. Britney said things such as- she has an IUD inside of her body that she
is not allowed to remove because “they don’t want me to have any more children.”,
she’s not allowed to get married, she was forcibly put on drugs such as Lithium
leaving her to “feel drunk” (and put on that drug after being immediately taken off of
other drugs that she had been prescribed for years prior) and said “I feel bullied. I
feel left out and alone.” She also testified that she was put into a made up treatment
program that cost her $60,000.00 a month- all against her will. She exclaimed that
she wanted to end the conservatorship and said in a July 14th testimony that “I
thought they were trying to kill me” and also stated that she wants charges placed
against her father for conservatorship abuse. Ms. Spears’ conservatorship has
allowed her “team” to makes millions of dollars of of her for 13 years too long. A
capacity declaration (which comes from a doctor stating that the proposed
conservatee has a condition that would make them a candidate for a guardianship)
was never filed in Britney Spears’ case leaving many to wonder how this is “legal” in
the first place. In fact, Ms. Spears’ conservatorship was put into place while she was
not even present and instead, in a mental health facility against her will.

Why “#BritneyFree Rally” & recent

developments:
On September 29th, Judge Brenda Penny suspended Jamie Spears from being the
conservator of the person over Britney Spears. This has been Britney’s wish for
years, along with terminating the conservatorship altogether. Britney’s previous court
appointed attorney Samuel Ingham III failed to make this change while her current
attorney Matthew Rosengart did so within 77 days of being retained. A hearing has
been set for November 12th for the termination of the conservatorship in which time
Mr. Rosengart is confident that Britney will gain her freedom. Although this movement
has been founded around Britney Spears’ conservatorship case, this is a larger issue
and abuses like the ones endured by Ms. Spears are happening every day. We hope
to continue the conversation started by Britney Spears’ case around conservatorship
abuse and reform.
