Task 2

Present the manuscript of data collection procedure.

PROCEDURE OF INVESTIGATION

Prior to the conduct of the study, the researchers coordinated with the advisers of

two sections of Grade 12 to ask for permission to have a list of students that enrolled this

academic year and to conduct the study.

In the actual conduct of the study, the primary gathered through the use of Checklist-

Survey Questionnaire which were answers in the messenger by the chosen the Grade 12

students as the respondents of the study through answering it in the platform of social

media, messenger. Also the researchers ask permission to have the grades of the grade 12

students during their 1st quarter and will keep the copy to be confidential.

After the conduct of the study, the researchers will collect the data where it will be

computed, tabulated and analyzed in order to see the results and conclusions.

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS USED

The data gathered were analyzed through the use of descriptive statistics. It

describes a data in a meaningful way and provides a summary about the gathered data. The

data were tabulated and interpreted using the appropriate statistical tools. The descriptive

statistics used frequency count technique, percentage distribution, and weighted mean.

Frequency Count Technique:

It will be used to determine the number of data obtained from the answers to

each question provided.

Percentage Distribution:

The formula employed is:

Where:

= percentage

f= frequency

N= total number of respondents

III. Essay

38-40. What are the identified data gathering tools to be used in a study?

The identified data gathering tools to be used in a study are surveys, interviews, focus
group discussion, and observation.

41-45. In your own words, describe each data gathering tool considering its
importance in the study.
.

Survey is a useful gathering tool and plays an important role in many disciplines when it
comes to collecting primary data. Surveys can help gauge the representativeness of
individual views and experiences. When done well, surveys provide hard numbers on
people's opinions and behaviours that can be used to make important decisions.

Interview is one of the most reliable and credible ways of getting relevant information
from chosen participants. It helps you explain, better understand, and
explore research subjects' opinions, behaviour, experiences, phenomenon, etc.

Observation is useful tool for it provides most accurate information about people, their
tasks, and their needs. It understands an on-going process or behaviour, or an unfolding
situation or event and there is physical evidence, or products or outcomes that can be seen.

Focus group discussion is frequently used as a qualitative approach to gain an in‐

depth understanding of social issues. The method aims to obtain data from a purposely
selected group of individuals rather than from a statistically representative sample of a
broader population.

46-50. As a researcher, how will you use interview and observation as data
gathering tools in your study?

I will use interview and observation as data gathering tools in my study by the use
of media platforms since it is prohibited to have a physical contact with others.
Specifically, I would schedule for online interview and observe on how participants
answer or I will just depend on their grades during 1 st quarter. I think this will be the way
to use interview and observation as data gathering tools since all people are limited to
intercourse with each other.
