EARTHQUAKE DRILL NARRATIVE REPORT

Philippines is an archipelago located in the Pacific Ring of Fire and the Pacific
Ocean. The geographic position of the Philippines makes it a disaster-prone area-
experiencing earthquakes and more than a handful of typhoons each year. The general
condition of our country in terms of disaster implies that readiness should be taught to
people to avoid further casualties.
As sated in the Republic Act 10121 or the Philippine Rosk Reduction and
Management Act of 2010, all government and non-government agencies are obligated
to create methods and programs that would prepare the citizens in facing disasters.
One great emphasis of this Act is the strengthening of the disaster preparedness
measures in all the schools that would imbibe the spirit of awareness and readiness
among teachers and pupils. The DepEd issued a Coordination and Information
Management Protocols for the streamlined distribution of protocols, rules and
responsibilities among schools, school division office and DRRM Coordinators. The said
issuance led to the mandate of the quarterly conduct of earthquake and fire drills in all
school in the Philippines

As per Memorandum QUO Memo 12-0120-0582 dated January 20, 2020, of

Undersecretary Alain B. Pascua, Office of the Undersecretary for Administration, all
public and private schools and Deped offices and attached agencies are directed to
undertake the conduct of the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on
March 12, 2020, at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon. In line with this, Elementary School’s
personnel, pupils and parents joined in the conduction of the said drill. However, since
we are facing the threat of the Covid-19 virus, the drill was performed by the parents
and their children in their respective homes. The said event was monitored by the
school personnel thru online via Facebook/messenger call/texts. They sent photos and
videos of the activity. The drill was successfully done through the help and cooperation
of each team and members of the school.

DRRM school Coordinator
