RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Immunology Research 2014-2016
-Faculty Supervisor: Dr. Devendra Agrawal, PhD, Chair of Department of Clinical & Translational Science
-Published two papers concerning vitamin D and immunomodulation of rotator cuff healing
-Research goals were to look at improving healing time and quality in patients with rotator cuff tears

Biological Psychology Research 2013-2014


-Faculty Supervisor: Dr. Dustin Stairs, PhD, Associate Professor Department of Psychology
-Published one paper titled: “The effects of environmental enrichment on nicotine condition place preference
in male rats.”
-Animal research that looked at nicotine and amphetamine drug addiction. Our goal was behavior
modification and environmental modulation to alter addiction patterns.
-My duties included caring for and performing the various trials including giving injections, hooking the rats
up to the infusion machine and tracking data.

Research Assistant: Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Phoenix, AZ


-Faculty Supervisor: Robert Bulloch, MD, Emergency Medicine Division Chief
-Screened patients for admission into the study, consented the patients in the emergency room, performed
trial on patients within the emergency room and gathered data
-Goal of study: determine a valid and easy-to-understand pain scale for use in the pediatric population

Research assistant for the summer of 2011- Phoenix Children’s Hospital


-Faculty Supervisor: Ryan Bode, MD, Hospitalist
-Formulated a spreadsheet to organize data, gathered information off of patient charts and assisted in the
data analysis, made cold calls to hospitals to gather information for hospitalist database
-Goal of study: to find correlations between vitamin D and pediatric cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Project CURA: India
-Gave check-ups and provided medication to children in underprivileged areas of India
-Learned about the different approach to health care in India by visiting many hospitals around the country
-Provided care to unwanted women in Calcutta through Mother Theresa House

Race for Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska


-Conceived, structured, and lead the first annual race for cerebral palsy in Omaha, NE.
-Organized leadership positions for the various tasks necessary for the race, collected sponsors and
funding, organized runners and planned entire day.

Magis Clinic: Sienna Francis House, Omaha


- Weekly clinic put on by students that provided basic health care for homeless and underserved populations
within Omaha
- Volunteered 1-2 times per semester

Adaptive Sports Rugby


- Helping handicapped people set up and play wheelchair rugby. Transferred people between chairs, helped
move equipment, and set up for practices

Phoenix Children’s Hospital


-Wrapped donated gifts for families with children in the hospital during Christmas

Feed My Starving Children


-Packaged food to send to places in need such as Africa, South America and Southeast Asia.

-Communicated with United Cerebral Palsy, compiled team members, aided in fundraising and organized race
-Moderated team meetings, spearheaded all communications, managed team timelines and proceedings

-Taught biology labs to freshmen as well as monitored experiments
-Wrote and graded weekly quizzes for the students as well as graded research papers.
