What is/are the evidences provided in the article/video that shows that Sa Aking
Mga Kabata was not made by Rizal? Enumerate and give a short explanation.

The pieces of evidence provided in the article/video show that "Sa Aking Mga Kabata"
was not made by Rizal are the following;

a) In the poem, the word "kalayaan" which was used twice will not be spelled out like
this if this was written in the year 1869 because, during the childhood of Dr. Jose
Rizal, words are spelled out with a "c" instead of "k".

b) Dr. Jose Rizal was 21 years old when he encountered and introduced the word
"kalayaan". It was the time when he was studying in Europe. Therefore, it was
strange and questionable if Rizal made this poem at the age of 8 because the word
"kalayaan" was used and mentioned twice.

c) Dr. Jose Rizal is fluent in speaking and writing Tagalog, but he was unable to finish
a whole novel using Tagalog. The documented poems of Rizal are all written in
Spanish. However, two poems attributed to Rizal in Tagalog, one of which was
entitled "Kundiman". Yet, those two poems are still questionable.

d) "Sa Aking Mga Kabata" was believed to be Dr. Jose Rizal's first poem; however,
there was no original manuscript found for this poem in Rizal's hand.

e) The poem "Sa Aking Mga Kabata" was first seen in the book of Hermenegildo Cruz
in the year 1906. Hermenegildo Cruz, together with Gabriel Beato Francisco are
suspects in who wrote the poem.

1. After knowing this information, do you now have a different view/perspective of

Jose Rizal? Explain.

Watching the video and reading the article provided that Rizal is not the one
who wrote the poem doesn't change how I see him. As a youth myself, I can say that
the poem is a reminder that we must love and embrace our very own language,
Tagalog. However, I see the poem as a reminder but it's Rizal who made it possible. I
or we, Filipinos, looked up to or idolized Rizal not only for his spectacular literary
works but also because of what he has done and sacrificed for our country. Besides,
Dr. Jose Rizal has many other literary works that showcased the condition of Filipinos
during the Spanish colonial period. I know and, perhaps, everyone knew that he is a
great writer and knowing that he is not the one who wrote the poem is not a
disappointment because he already proved his undying love for the Philippines
through his other literary works and died for it.

Dr. Jose Rizal is more than his literary works. Without him, Filipinos might still
be hesitant to fight for their freedom and claim their true identity. Rizal symbolizes
courage, bravery, and a true hero. Furthermore, before I was introduced to the poem
I already knew the heroism of Dr. Jose Rizal. Therefore, what I've found out doesn’t
matter to me because he may or may not the one wrote the poem, his greatness will
still be intact. Rizal changed our past, present and the youths are inspired by the
bravery and indisputable patriotism that will change our future.
