SSR-VDI INTERNALLY THREADED

CHEMICAL ANCHOR SOCKETS
SSR
FCL have available a unique range of high load bearing, chemically bonded anchor sockets
designed to provide safe solutions in structural anchoring applications. The system consists
of an internally threaded socket component for flush mounting which is bonded into the
concrete using either a B + Btec VDP glass capsule chemical anchor of appropriate size or
SSR-CM25 pourable resin grout.

Product Range
SSR-VDI sockets are available in thread sizes from M8 through to M36, manufactured from
zinc plated steel, A2-304 and A4-316 stainless steel. They provide the engineer with
optimum flexibility when designing solutions to high performance anchoring problems
requiring a loose bolt connection.

SSR-VDI Design Data

SSR-VDI systems have been fully tested to the requirements of the latest EOTA “Guideline
For European Technical Approval of Anchors For Use In Concrete”. Data is based on
anchors set in diamond cored holes which remained damp at the time of installation and no
additional roughening of the internal surface by percussion drilling was carried out.
Assimilating site realities in this way ensured that the data obtained was completely reliable.

SSR-VDI Design Loads

The safe design load for an anchor can be established by applying a factor of safety to the
ultimate load which reflects the critical requirement of the application. The following
guidelines are designed to assist in establishing the most suitable factor. Please contact our
design support service for additional information or advice.
Suggested safety factors for structural installations:
2.5-3 Static loads in the compression zone of reinforced concrete.
3.5-4 Reinforced concrete subject to vibratory loads.
Pollution areas.
The tensile zone of reinforced concrete.
4-5 Areas subject to severe weather changes.
Underwater applications.
5-6 Earthquake Areas.
It should be noted that many manufacturers and distributors do not use nature of the application. Considerable care should be taken when
the same stringent assessment of anchor centres and edge distances or SSR recommendations to other suppliers who may not have
comparing FCL
apply one safety factor figure to working load data irrespective of the carried out the same in depth assesment of the system.

Setting Tools for SSR-VD-1 Sockets

A comprehensive range of installation accessories is available to ensure trouble free
fitting of the SSR-VDI range when installing with VDP capsules. By using the SSR
FCL
hexagon shank socket drive and an adapter tool to suit most standard drilling machines,
installation of the anchor is a clean, simple and quick operation. Sizes M8 to M12
require only an SSR-VDI socket tool which fits any standard 1/2” chuck rotary drill.

SSR 100 Approved Transport Anchor Systems

The SSR-VDI design is used as the basis for the SSR 100 anchors programme, which
meet the Highways Agency standards designated in the ”Specification for Highway
Works”, seventh edition.
Where required, BBA/HAPAS approval certification has been obtained.
