Ref: Ring Road Phase III (Wingate Interchange - Gojam Road) .

Subject: Retaining Wall Proposal at Debremarkos Round about.

Dear Sirs,

We recall that the construction of Debremarkos Roundabout for the

captioned project is progressing all as per previously approved drawings.

During the excavation of ellipse edges of the roundabout, we have found

out that the elevation difference between our walkway edges and the
existing residential buildings is remarkably more than 3 meters at the
right edges from station R-3-1 to R-3-13 of the roundabout. And when
we visited the site in those sections, the existing soil condition is not
good, it is very easy to collapse and more over dangerous for the houses
and people living around there.

As the original design didn’t provide information regarding road edge

treatment at those locations, we have suggested verbally for the
construction of concrete retaining wall in order to retain the existing
ground as well as the house. However the Engineer didn’t accept our idea
and instructed us to continue excavating without any protection
provided.

Please note that we are not observing potential life threatening danger.
Hence we would like to inform you that the contractor will not take any
responsibility for any damages or collapse that may occur on the fences
and hoses due to site activity.
