Background of the Utility Model

The sofa bed is one of the most popular items that can be found on the market if you are looking
for multi-purpose furniture which saves space and makes life easier at home.

The clever and versatile combination of a sofa and a bed, a sofa bed instantly provides a
comfortable sleeping space. Basically, a sofa bed is a couch that can be converted into a bed. A
sofa bed can be bought for everyday use in small apartments.

It comes with clever, space-saving features, can be easily converted into sleep surfaces and
provides a comfortable sleeping space for friends and family staying overnight, and it performs
brilliantly night and day.

Description of Prior Art

Publication number US4086671A dated 1977-01-24 (Manning Lane), discloses a sofa

convertible into a bed comprising a back rest and arm support section mounting a horizontal
stationary frame adapted to slidably receive two telescoping sections which may be withdrawn
to provide a horizontal sleeping surface, a self-storing continuous one-piece mattress, and a
folding foot board section.
Publication number US3747135A dated 1972-02-28 (A Barabas), disclosed a type of sofa bed
that has a simple mattress support with only two hinged sections is provided. The back of the
sofa frame has a forward facing cavity. A mechanism is provided for folding the mattress
support and mattress into an L shape so that a substantially horizontal portion of the mattress
forms a seat support, and a substantially vertical portion of the mattress forms a backrest for the
sofa. Loose seat cushions and back cushions then are placed on the horizontal and vertical
mattress portions to form an exceptionally soft seat and back for the sofa. A fabric flap is
attached along the top of the sofa frame and covers the vertical mattress portion forming the
sofa back rest. The flap is folded back over the back of the sofa when the bed is unfolded. The
folding mechanism for the bed includes a leg linkage which remains below the upper surface of
the mattress support so as to be out of the way of clothing and persons sleeping on the bed. A
back swing-linkage is provided with a tie-bar which supports the rear section of the mattress
support when it is horizontal, and also supports the same section when it is vertical for use as a
back-rest.

Objectives

The objective of this Utility Model is to produce a convenient, comfortable by introducing simple
convertible sofa bed.

Summary of the Utility Model

This sofa convertible into a bed comprising a backrest, detachable arm rest/arm support that
can be a pillow, an extended link for securing the backrest from detaching and sofa frame which
may be withdrawn to provide a horizontal sleeping surface.

Claims

1. A sofa bed (fig. 1) comprising a (fig. 2) (1) sofa frame where the foam mattress is attached.
An (2) extended link to secure the (3) backrest from detaching from the (4) base. A (5)
detachable arm rest or arm support that can be a pillow;

The (fig. 4) (7) base frame is the same length and width with (6) backrest frame. A (9) sofa leg
with the same length with the (7) base frame to support it. A (10) back/bed leg which is hinged
has the same width with the (6) backrest frame.

Abstract
