April 5 BRIGADA
Congratulations to LGU-Barcelona for receiving the Gawad Brigada Diamond Award, the highest recognition in Brigada Eskwela of the
Department of Education (DepEd) Region V. The Regional Winners are Celso F. Falcotelo National High School and Sta. Cruz Elementary
School. We thank our hardworking teachers, teaching and non-teaching personnel of said schools and the leadership of Dr. Marilou Fulo, BE
Coordinator Ryan Francial, Ma'am Nilda F. Hisarza, BE Coordinator Ma'am Salome Tan.

The Municipality of Barcelona is included in the Brigada Eskwela Hall of Fame Awardee for its exemplary performance and outstanding
contribution to this annual project since the leadership of VG Wowo Fortes when he was still the Municipal Mayor of Barcelona.
With the help of the Ordinance by Vice Governor Wowo Fortes, the Province of Sorsogon institutionalized the support in this program of the
Department of Education.

Brigada Eskwela 2020 was held last March 18,2021 at Burabod Elem. School, Sorsogon City.

April 6 Provincial Ordinances that were Approved and Adopted on its third and final reading on the 90th Regular Session of the 10th
Provincial Board on April 5, 2021, to wit: 

A proposed ordinance by Vice Governor Manuel ‘Wowo’ L. Fortes Jr.  and Hon . Rommel John C. Mella entitled “AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR MANDATORY ANNUAL MEDICAL AND DENTAL CHECK-UP OF PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES.”
This is to implement a comprehensive health check for employees to better serve Sorsoganons. 

Similarly, Hon. Roland R. Añonuevo and Hon. Arze G. Glipo proposed an ordinance, “AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING BARANGAY
DOCTORS IN THE PROVINCE OF SORSOGON, PROVIDING FUNDS THEREFOR, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.”

Hon. Roxan M. Escanilla also proposed “AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE PROVINCIAL CULTURE AND ARTS COUNCIL OF
SORSOGON (PCACS)”.

There are also four resolutions by Hon. Edmundo A. Atutubo to secure Sorsogon’s border from the rising COVID-19 cases and from
illegal entry or without COVID-19 test results and others required by Gov. Chiz Escudero’s Executive Order no. 11-2021.

66th regular Session san petsa singko kan Oktubre, presenteng taon. Obheto san ordinansa na magkaigwa sin representasyon nan boses an
 barangay kagawad.

Mao man ini an kauna unahan na ordinansa sa nasyon na naghahatag sin representasyon sin Barangay Kagawad sa Sangguniang Bayan-
Lungsod nan Panlalawigan.

Nagsairarom an ordinansa sa pag-aadal kan konseho asin surunod na konsultasyon sa Kagawaran ng Interyor at Pamahalaang Lokal o DILG
Dept of Interior and Local Governance.

Ang Provincial Ordinance No. 45, Series of 2020 na isinulat ng ating Vice Governor Atty
Manuel "Wowo" L. Fortes Jr. ay ipinasa noong Oktubre 5, 2020 during the 66th Regular Session. Ito ay may layuning makamit ang mas
pinalawak na representasyon para sa mga Barangay Kagawad sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng upuan sa konseho. Ang ordinansa ang
maitatalang kauna unahang inisyatibo ng gobyernong lokal na maglagay ng adisyonal na kinatawan sa Sangguniang Bayan-Lungsod-
Panlalawigan. Ito ay sumailalim sa regular na pagsusuri ng komitaba at dumaan sa mbusising konsultasyon ng Kagawaran ng Interyor at
Pamahalaang Lokal o DILG.
