Greetings!

The NDP Nurses of Daraga, a group of Public Health Nurses is now implementing a project
entitled “Preparado Para Sigurado: A training program on improving health and nutrition of the
Barangay” or henceforth called the “Barangay Health and Nutrition Training” that aims to impart
knowledge and skills on improving health and nutrition of the Barangay, particularly the vulnerable
groups.in the community situated at Barangay Matagbac, Daraga, Albay in advocating and sustaining the
said project. Barangay Health and Nutrition Training has specific outcomes:

1. Acquire knowledge on the following topics through the 2 half-day sessions

● Community nutrition needs assessment
● Nutrition programs and project planning
● Health promotion and disease prevention strategies
2. Gain an awareness of the current health and nutrition programs offered by the
Department of Health (DOH) and the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in accordance
with RA 7883 - “The Barangay Health Workers Benefits and Incentive Act of 1995” as
well as Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition of the NNC.
3. Perform situational analysis for given problems with regards to the needs of vulnerable
groups and their assessment within the given time frame.
4. Develop a program implementation guide that could help improve and enhance the
health services offered by Barangay Health Center as the final output and evaluation
from the training.

We humbly request therefore for your council to allow the nurses to conduct a series of seminars
to the members of the community about fostering awareness on the career opportunities provided by the
government as well as nurturing our compassion and care for the community through the empowerment
of the smallest local government unit - the barangay. We assure you that strict and proper health protocols
and compliance to IATF guidelines or local ordinances will be maintained in conducting such activities.
