Types of homes

• -a house-(two-storey house/three-storey house)

• Storey=floor
• Ex. I live on the 3rd floor of a two-storey house.

Other types of homes

• Apartment- flat (Britain)/-apartment building

• -high-rise(Am-Eng)=tower block(Br-Eng)
• (very tall with many floors)
• -converted apartments-a house divided into apartments
• -studio apartment-1 room for everything
• 2-bedroom apartment/4-bedroom apartment
• -duplex apartment=more than 1 floor

Examples:
1.I live in a two-storey terraced house.
2. I live in an apartment on the 28th floor of a high-rise building.

3.I live in a converted studio apartment.\

What do you like/dislike about your home
-Positive words
a) spacious-large with lot of rooms
b) cosy-comfortable in a warm/welcoming way
c) light-lots of natural light
 d) warm/cool
e) convenient-close to other places you need to go regularly (convenient for the
subway)
-Negative words
a) cramped-too small, not enough space
b) dark-not enough natural light
c) drafty-cold air comes inside in the winter
d) stuffy-not enough air in hot weather
e) noisy
