The world famous k-pop boy

band is once again about to
melt their way into the
hearts of their fans with
their new dance pop English
single ‘Butter’ which is
expected to release on May
21, 1pm KST.

The single is expected to be a

huge hit considering the
overwhelming response that
their first english and Grammy
nominated single ‘Dynamite’
and studio album ‘BE’ has
received.
The boys have left fans
speechless with heart
throbbing teaser photos
released on instagram on May
13th, making the wait for the
single harder.

Korean news outlet Newsen stated that “BTS is expected to release a new
album containing a variety of new songs, including ‘Butter’, in June after
releasing ‘Butter’ as a digital single.”
Amul india also celebrated the announcement of the boyband’s single by
posting a cartoon featuring BTS saying “it BeaTS other butters.” Flaunting
their word play, the dairy brand added. “k-pop it onto bread!” And eversince
the post, the internet has been in a frenzy with loads of reshares and
appreciation by the fans of the Korean pop group.

A catchy melody, a good rhythm,
amazing beats, relatable lyrics and
funky moves, what else we’d like to
groove around. And that’s what pop
music is all about. It is loved by
every age group and allows people
to drum along easily at the best
melody that suits their dexterity.
Pop may be a genre that
originated in its modern form during
the mid 1950s within the US and the
UK . The term "pop music" is meant
to appeal all or any , often
characterized as an instant singles-
based music aimed towards
teenagers and young adults.
Pop music is an umbrella concept. It
has different sub-genres and
regional variants like Kpop; world’s
biggest sensational boy band BTS is
one such example of it and others
like Jpop, Cpop, Indie pop etc.
Pop music include

point that it has started the pop
trend like “In My Feelings” by drake
which went viral like crazy. Even in elements of rock,
the quaratine days people didn’t
leave the chance to participate in hip hop, reggae,
the trendy challenges like
‘Renegade’ inspired by the song
dance, R&B, soul,
“Lottery” by K Camp, ‘savage
challenge’ inspired by Megan Thee
jazz, electronic,
Stallion’s song “Savage” etc.
These are the songs we hear daily,
and sometimes
wherever we go, in the shopping
malls, radio, clubs, café, restaurants
ethnic music and
etc.
From YouTube to Spotify playlists,
various other
we like to vibe on these songs. styles.
Play these hits and you will
definitely get in the party mood. Pop
music has taken over the industry by
storm and we can also say that pop
is a whole package.

Pop is one of the most popular genres in the
music industry right now. With popstars
climbing up the charts every now and then,
securing the top spots, leaving fans shocked
and amused with new records it gets us
curious about how it all began and how did we
get where we are today? Let’s find out.
Pop music originated into its modern form
during the 1950s in the USA and United
Kingdom. Originally consisting of whatever
was popular at that time, pop music has
evolved into it’s own genre over time and still
continues to. During the 50s, with previous
influence from the 40s rock and roll remained
prominent for the first half of the decade.
Rock and pop remained roughly synonyms
until late 1960s, after with pop was beginning
to be associated with more commercial,
accessible and ephemeral music. The 60s
witnessed beyond recognition development
of the pop industry.
During 1970s, Euro pop gained popularity,
this decade saw rise of disco music, one of the
biggest genres of the decade.
Artists like Michael Jackson and Madonna
dominated the 1980s, selling 110 million
copies. Digital recording became huge,
synthesizers and electronic sounds could be
put into music leading to development of
dance pop and techno.
The 1990s saw the rise of teen pop and dance
pop bands such as the spice girls , who later
became one of the most successful British
group in North America, followed by bigger
named artists like destiny’s child and Britney
spears. The 90s pop was typically categorized
by hearty ballads and dance music.
The 2000s saw the development in
popularity of genres like hip hop and R&B,
but pop still continued to be extremely
popular. Teen pop continued to exist and
power pop and pop rock made a comeback
2010s, the latest decade saw the rise in
diversity in the genre. With English pop still
winning hearts and entertaining the masses
with artists like Justin Bieber, imagine
dragons, Ariana grande and One direction,
the decade also witnessed recognition and
popularity for Asian pop music, Mainly kpop.
Pop has evolved into something much more
than just a catchy melody and repeated
verses, it represented how music and musical
trends have grown and evolved through the
years. Pop today is a wonderful and
complicated genre with a road of endless
opportunities for the artists and unlimited
possibilities.

This pandemic has seriously made
us miss Coachella, a festival we all
thought we hated because of the
heat and sand storms (ugh!! am I
right?), although not all of us have
experienced that madness, but we
have experienced something
similar…. Concerts!! Now, I cannot
tell if concerts give me nostalgia or
déjà vu, but oh lord, it is like a toxic
ex, I need it back!!
Whenever I mention concerts, all I
can think of are the LEGENDARY
BANDS, because how can you not?
Artists! You need to do better.
Talking of legendary bands, we have
compiled a record (pun intended) of
the most iconic bands throughout
the history, we’d suggest to keep a
box of tissues near you (we know all
of these are disbanded) since we are
crying too.

Off the top of my head, I can name bands
that are so iconic, they make me want to
live in that era like THE QUEENS, THE
DOORS, THE BEACH BOYS, PINK
FLOYD, THE ROLLING STONES, THE
BEATLES, THE BACKSTREET BOYS,
NSYNC, don’t worry I haven’t forgotten
ONE DIRECTION. Honestly, I could go
on and on.
These bands and their music have been
our comfort space as long as my great
grandma has lived…, no, but seriously,
there is something so comforting yet
heart wrenching about the fact that
there will never be another song from
our favorite bands, can someone just
kidnap them and torture them till they
reform their bands, I mean all of us
would love that.
From falling head over heels for Justin
Timberlake to being heartbroken when
Zayn Malik left, we have seen it all now
let’s just hope, the new generation of
bands can do us and them justice.

LOT OF CUTE THINGS. K-POP IS SO HYPED AND

ENERGETIC THAT EVEN THE MUSIC VIDEOS MAKE

YOU WANNA JUMP OF FROM YOUR BED AND JUST

DANCE, DANCE, DANCE. WHERE AS ENGLISH POP

HAS MADE AN ENTRY IN PEOPLE’S HEART YEARS

AGO. ENGLISH POP BECAME A TREND FOR PEOPLE

TO SHOW THAT THEY LISTEN TO SUCH BIG ARTISTS

AND BECAUSE IT IS IN ENGLISH, IT MADE PEOPLE

COMFORTABLE WITH IT IN AN EARLY START OF POP

MUSIC.

SONGS SUCH AS GANGNAM STYLE BY PSY

WITHOUT KNOWING IT WAS K-POP. WHY? BECAUSE

OF IT HAS SUCH CATCHY MUSIC. PEOPLE DIDN’T

REALLY PUT THEIR MINDS ON WHAT THE LYRICS ARE

AND ALL. BUT FROM THE PAST 7-8 YEARS, GEN-Z

HAS GOTTEN A LOT INTO LYRICS THAN MUSIC AND

SINCE THEN, THE VALUE OF K-POP HAS GROWN SO

MUCH. GROUPS LIKE BTS HAS SUCH LYRICS THAT

MAKES PEOPLE FEEL LIKE THAT ARE NOT ALONE

AND WITH EVERY STEP OF THEIR LIFE, THEY ARE

THEIR TO ALWAYS PUSH THEM UP IN LIFE. AND IF

WE COMPARE, ENGLISH POP IS MOSTLY ABOUT

LOVE AND KINDA WRITTEN IN AN EXPLICIT WAY, BUT

IN K-POP EXPLICITY IS NOT YET OPEN. THEY MIGHT

WRITE THE EXPLICIT LYRICS IN A METAPHORIC WAY.

BUT STILL K-POP AND ENGLISH POP ARE SUPER

CATCHY AND LOVABLE IN THEIR OWN WAY.

Whether you're a BTS ARMY,
BLACKPINK Blink, or a member of
IU’s Uaena or Chungha’s
Byulharang fanbase, there's one
thing we can all agree on: K-pop is
a global phenomenon quite unlike
anything else.
They call it Hallyu, the Korean
wave: the idea that South Korean
pop culture has grown in
prominence to become a major
driver of global culture and as the
country with many obsessions we
carry with us everyday, seen in
everything from Korean dramas on
Netflix to Korean skincare
regimens dominating the
cosmetics industry to delicious
Korean tacos on your favorite local
menu. At the heart of Hallyu is the
ever-growing popularity of K-pop
— short, of course, for Korean pop
music.
The genre has been around for a
couple decades but the major global
recognition took place between the
recent 5 to 10 years. South Korean
artists have made it to the billboard top
100 multiple times since the wonder
girls first cracked it in 2009 with
“Nobody”.
Kpop industry is where artists are
selected, trained and polished into
future stars. Every Kpop artist is a
master of atleast one skill among
dancing, singing, rapping and of course
their breathtaking visuals. The genre
that emerged in 1992 with one
electronic hip-hop performance has
evolved into a billion dollar industry
today which continues to grow.
Artists like BTS, EXO, TXT, blackpink,
Psy and twice are some of the major
contributors to this worldwide
phenomena, with their fanbases in
number of countries [ in Asia and
outside as well] Kpop artists have
started making music in not only
Korean but other languages like
Chinese and English as well.

 Why Don’t We or WDW as fans like to call
them is an American boy band, formed
back in 2016 with the members Daniel
Seavey, Jonah Maris, Jack Avery, Corbyn
Besson and Zach Herron. The group has
released two studio albums and six
extended plays and has been nominated for
several Music Award. The band originally
formed on September 27, 2016, after having
all met in Los Angeles, California, a year
prior. On October 20, 2016, the group
released their debut single "Taking You", a
track from their debut EP, “Only the
Beginning”, which was released on
November 25 of the same year. They
embarked on their first headlining tour, the
"Taking You tour”, the very next year.

Renowned Indian classical
vocalist Pandit Rajan Mishra,
whom we all call Bade Guru ji
died of Covid-19 complications
at a hospital in Delhi on 25th
april, 2021. The 70-year-old
was a part of the Pandit Rajan
Sajan Mishra duo. News of the
death of the singer sent
shockwaves through the world
of music and elsewhere too.
Pt Rajan Mishra was born in
1951 and brought up in
Varanasi. He belonged to the
Banaras gharana and were
trained by legends like Bade
Ramdas Mishra and Gopal
Prasad Mishra. He started his
journey from Kabir Chaura,
Banaras, which is also known
kalakaaron ka mohalla. Pt.
Sajan Mishra, who is known as
Chhote Guru ji had been his
constant companion in this
musical journey. Both the
brothers, Rajan Mishra and
Sajan Mishra gave their first
concert in abroad which was in
Sri lanka in 1978, and soon
they went on to stated touring
and performing all over India
and in many countries across
the world such as Germany,
Switzerland, Austria, UK, Qatar,
USA, The Netherlands, USSR,
Singapore, Bangladesh, France
and Muscat.
They’ve released 12
albums, some of them are
Rajan Sajan Misra, Bhairav Se
Bhairavi Tak, Ragas Desi &
Shuddh Bhairavi , Jugal Gayaki
etc, 11 compilations and 11
miscellaneous. Pt Rajan Mishra
and Sajan Mishra took Banaras
Gharana to new heights in the
genre of khayal gayaki by
establishing their gharana,
which has been popularly and
wrongly associated more with
genres of light classical music.
They were awarded and
honoured with plenty of awards
which included the Padma
Bhushan, Sangeet Natak
Academy Award, the Sanskrit
Award, the Kumar Gandharva
Award, Sangeet Ratna
(Allahabad), Sangeet Bhushan
and the Kashi Gaurav Award
(Varanasi).
