PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING A GREEN PASS AS AN

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

The following guidelines are designed to define the 5 (five) main categories of international
students needing to obtain a Green Pass in order to have access to their in-person classes
and all university buildings and facilities.

Case A: I have an EU/Turkish/North Macedonian/Ukrainian Green Pass OR I have an

equivalent vaccination certificate/proof of recovery from SARS-CoV-2 infection issued
in Canada, Israel, Japan, UK or USA

A Green Pass issued by one of the EU member states, along with Turkey, North Macedonia
or Ukraine, is automatically recognized in Italy.
Likewise, vaccination certificates as well as certificates stating full recovery from
SARS-CoV-2 infection that have been issued by the competent authorities in Canada, Israel,
Japan, the UK or the US are recognized as equivalent to the EU Green Pass.
Any proof of recovery must not be from earlier than 6 months ago and the relevant Green
Pass will be valid for until 6 months after the date of recovery indicated.

Case B: I have a vaccination certificate issued by a non-EU country and I want it to be

recognized in Italy

Important: this case refers only to students who have gotten the above-mentioned
certificates in countries DIFFERENT FROM those listed in Case A (see above).

If you ALREADY possess a vaccination certificate issued by a non-EU country, you can
request that it be recognized by the Italian authorities in order to obtain a Green Pass by
sending an email to commissario.vaccini@aulss3.veneto.it.

The email MUST include all of the following attachments:

- your Italian tax code (provided by Ca’ Foscari)
- a PDF of an official identity document or passport
- the vaccination certificate issued to you by a foreign health authority, which MUST
clearly state the following data:
● your personal information (name and surname; date of birth)
● details of the vaccination: name of the vaccine; vaccine lot; date(s) of
vaccination (of single dose or of the first and second doses)
● details regarding the authority that issued the certificate (nation; name of
health authority)

Important: a Green Pass can be issued only for the vaccines currently approved by the
European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Italian Medicines Agency (Agenzia Italiana del
Farmaco, or AIFA): Comirnaty (Pfizer BioNTech); Spikevax (Moderna); Vaxzevria
(AstraZeneca); COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen (Janssen-Johnson & Johnson).
Your vaccination certificate, which can take the form of a hard copy or a digital document,
must provide all of the relevant information in Italian OR English. If the document has been
prepared in a language other than English or Italian, it must be accompanied by a certified
English or Italian translation.

If you have received the first dose of an approved vaccine after recovering from
SARS-CoV-2, you can request a Green Pass but will have to provide BOTH a vaccination
certificate and a document demonstrating proof of recovery (see Case D below).

Case C: I still need to be fully vaccinated

If you are not enrolled in the Italian National Health Service, and thus do not have a National
Health Service card, you can book an appointment for vaccination by sending an email to
commissario.vaccini@aulss3.veneto.it.

The email MUST include all of the following attachments:

- your Italian tax code (provided by Ca’ Foscari)
- a PDF of an official identity document or passport
- a self-declaration stating your completed enrollment as a Ca’ Foscari student (you
can download the PDF document you need to fill out and sign, currently only
available in Italian, at
https://www.aulss3.veneto.it/index.cfm?method=mys.apridirectdoc&iddoc=568; here
is an English-language PDF guide to help you fill out this form)

It is crucial that, on the day of your assigned vaccination appointment, you bring the
following documents with you to the vaccination centre:
- your Italian tax code (provided by Ca’ Foscari)
- self-declaration stating your completed enrollment as a Ca’ Foscari student
- consent form (Please download the English form and the general information
attachments regarding the possible vaccines: Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna,
AstraZeneca, Johnson&Johnson). This form is a declaration of your personal
decision to be vaccinated. The attachments provide: general information regarding
the vaccines; possible side effects; warnings and precautions, including all the
medical conditions that might interfere with the vaccination.
PLEASE NOTE: Ca’ Foscari strongly recommends that you submit the form and
attachments to a general practitioner in your home country, in order to gather all of
the information regarding your particular medical history, discuss any possible
medical conditions that might interfere with the vaccination and evaluate the risks
involved in receiving the vaccination. Any relevant information in this regard must be
reported to the doctors or health care workers of the vaccination team on the
vaccination day.

Case D: I have proof of recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection issued by a non-EU
country and I want it to be recognized in Italy

Important: this case refers only to students who have gotten proof of recovery in countries
DIFFERENT FROM those listed in Case A (see above).

If you ALREADY possess a document declaring your recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection
issued by a foreign country, you can request that it be recognized in order to obtain a Green
Pass by sending an email to commissario.vaccini@aulss3.veneto.it.

The email MUST include all of the following attachments:

- your Italian tax code (provided by Ca’ Foscari)
- a PDF of an official identity document or passport
- a document providing proof of recovery issued by a foreign health authority, which
MUST clearly state the following data:
○ your personal information (name and surname; date of birth)
○ information on your SARS-CoV-2 infection deriving from the first swab test
that showed positive result (the exact date of the first positive molecular swab
test must be indicated)
○ details regarding the authority that issued the certificate (nation; name of
health authority)
○ a date of issue within the last six 6 months at the time of the request of
recognition (the relevant Green Pass will be valid until 6 months after the date
of recovery)

The document proving your recovery, which can take the form of a hard copy or a digital
document, must provide all of the relevant information in Italian OR English. If the document
has been prepared in a language other than English or Italian, it must be accompanied by a
certified English or Italian translation.

If you have received the first dose of a vaccine approved by the Italian government after
recovering from SARS-CoV-2, you can request a Green Pass but you will have to provide
BOTH a vaccination certificate (see Case B) and proof of recovery.

Case E: I have been vaccinated with a vaccine not yet approved by the European
Medicines Agency - EMA (for example, Sputnik, Sinopharm, etc.)

In this case, an official statement has yet to be issued by the relevant institutions (Italian
Ministry of Health; AIFA; EMA) regarding how you must proceed. We hope this will be
available very soon.

For any medical doubt we recommend you to refer to a general practitioner in your home
country.

Cases B, C and D: How to download the Green Pass

Once the procedure is completed, you will receive an automatic email and/or SMS from the
Italian Ministry of Health in Italian and English with instructions on how to download your
Green Pass. This email and/or SMS contains a 12-digit alphanumeric code (AUTHCODE)
that is necessary for the download.
If you are unable to download the Green Pass from the websites and apps suggested,
please go to https://www.dgc.gov.it/spa/public/home and insert the requested data following
these guidelines:
1. In the first box “Tipologia utente” (User typology), you must select “Utente senza
tessera sanitaria o vaccinato all'estero” (User without health card or vaccinated
abroad).
2. In the drop-down menu “Tipologia documento fornito all'atto del tampone o della
certificazione di guarigione o fornito al momento della registrazione della
vaccinazione effettuata all'estero” (Type of document provided at the moment of
swab test or proof of recovery, or given upon registration of a vaccination received
abroad), choose the appropriate option: “Passaporto” (passport), “Carta d’identità”
(national identity document), “Patente di guida” (driving license), OR “Altro
documento” (other document).
3. To the right of this drop-down menu, in the box labeled “Numero documento fornito
all'atto del tampone o della certificazione di guarigione o fornito al momento della
registrazione della vaccinazione effettuata all'estero” (Number of the document
provided at the moment of swab test or proof of recovery, or given upon registration
of a vaccination gotten abroad), insert the number of the document you selected in
the previous step.
4. In the drop-down menu “Tipo codice” (Type of code) you must select
“AUTHCODE-codice ricevuto per email o sms dalla piattaforma PN-DGC”
(AUTHCODE-code received by email or sms from the PN-DGC platform).
5. To the right of this drop-down menu, in the box “Codice identificativo” (identification
code), please insert the AUTHCODE you received with the email of the Ministry of
Health.
6. In the drop-down menu “Lingua della certificazione” (Language of certificate), choose
one option: “Italiano-inglese” (Italian-English), “Italiano-inglese-tedesco”
(Italian-English-German), “Italiano-inglese-francese” (Italian-English-French).
7. In the box “Codice di sicurezza” (Security code), insert the alphanumeric code that is
shown in this same box. You can refresh it by clicking on “Altra immagine” (Other
image). Otherwise, you can listen to it by clicking on “Audio”; you can also refresh
this recording by clicking on “Altro audio” (Other recording)
8. To finally download your certificate, click on “Recupera certificazione” (Download
certificate) at the bottom of the page.
Please note: If you wish to start the procedure over again -- for example, if you feel that you
have made a mistake -- you can click on “Ripulisci campi” (Clear all fields) to erase all the
data you have filled in so far.

IMPORTANT: beyond the five cases outlined above, there may be others, including that of
students who have been planning to arrive in Italy after having received only the first dose of
one of the vaccines approved in Italy that require two doses. In this particular case, we do
not yet have specific information available regarding the procedure to follow, so we would
encourage those who would fall into this category to avoid traveling to Italy until they have
received the second dose.
