Activity 4: A Lookback
Instructions:
Name three incidents from your early childhood to late childhood that you believed created a
strong impact in your character development, habit formation and personal growth. Explain what
realizations they have given you on the important roles adults play in the life of a child.

Childhood indeed is one of the best moments of our life. Cherishing the situation when
we are just too young and innocent in this world is one of the greatest feelings a person felt in his
entire life. But also, we couldn't deny the fact that not every one of us had the same experiences
in childhood. Some have already awakened to the reality of life, which may have created a potent
impact on the character development, habit formation, and personal growth of the child, affecting
how he will behave in his adulthood.
Starting with my character development, I have always been happy and blessed with my
parents' kindness back then. They have always been fulfilling my needs and wants as a child.
They are very kind but not to the point where they get to be spoiling me with the material things.
Instead, they are pampering me with love and other psychological needs and, I think that's how I
got my kind and caring character traits as a person. Through the years, I have always been living
up to my parents' words that "treat people with kindness even if they would not treat you back
that way," and I believe that it shows up on my personality today because I am always showing
people with kindness and treating them at my utmost care but of course with boundary because
people might abuse your good side and I've learned my lesson before.
Talking about habits, I am always fond of playing games outside before. As the
technology evolved, my playing setting had also changed from the physical area to the digital
world. In the digital world, online games have been relevant and became a trend that I became
addicted to it. With that situation, it became my daily habit until now, whether the game is
offline or online, I always have that one game on my phone that I always play and, it somehow
affected me psychologically and mentally. My behavior sometimes gets affected by the outcome
of my game, and sometimes my attitude becomes disturbing to others. I did consider that my
present habit was rooted in the support that my parents gave me, but I also concluded that it is
always up to me whether I'll stop my bad habit or not.
Lastly, going with personal growth, I am always that shy and vulnerable person before. I
easily get shy facing many people, and I always end up crying for petty reasons. But when I
found music and dancing, it somehow boosted my confidence and gave me personal growth.
Growing up loving music and having a passion for dancing did change my shy character before.
I became the person I am today, which is a jolly, confident, and strong individual. Dancing and
music somehow gave me the meditation to reflect and grow as an individual, and I'll be forever
grateful for it especially to my parents because they support me to any good things I want to do
in life.
Wrapping up, I realized that my parents were the primary reason for my character
development, habit formation, and personal growth, whether it is good or bad. I am favored to
receive much encouragement, love, and support from my parents. Also, I am so thankful that I
have absorbed most of the positive factors from them during my childhood because it shows how
salient their parently gestures are in building the person I am today.
